Title: 4 years later, and a new achievement
Post by: scottinflorida on November 02, 2014, 07:29:06 PM
Sorry I don't get on the forum like I used to, but I had to share this today.

4 years ago I weighed 258 pounds and was sedentary. I came across Doug's book in a Barnes and Noble and started following the FTS eating plan. Exactly 1 year after starting, I had lost 80 pounds and was down to 178.

I also was able to start running again, which I had not been able to do for over 20 years due to chronic knee pain.

Today, at 175 pounds, I completed my first ultramarathon in Englewood, Florida. Rather than a set distance, this was a timed race. You could sign up to do 24 hours, 12 hours or 6 hours. I did the 12 hour race starting at 9 pm on Saturday night, and ended up with a final mileage total of 40.1 miles. This definitely would not have been possible if it weren't for the FTS way of eating.

The other big factor in my successful race was my crew - my daughter Bri and her boyfriend Fernando. They kept me going through the whole night. And it was cold - much of the night was in the 40s, and in Florida that's pretty cold!

Scott, here's another man who started Marathon running after losing 75 pounds on our FTS program.... his name is Marcus Leaver and he was the president of Sterling Publishing Company, my publisher :)

He sent me a letter and this picture crediting the FTS book and eating plan for "revitalizing" his life.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D HOORAY, SCOTT!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's nice to hear from you again, buddy! :)

A 40.1 mile 12 hour run is VERY impressive!
Especially for someone who not long ago had knee problems.

You are a true inspiration to our FTS family, my friend!

Don't be such a stranger.
Your contributions to our discussions help many with their FTS journeys!
Remember, those who help others tend to have a much more blessed life.

Tony
