I guess this question is for Doug mainly but anyone who can answer it is welcome!! We need to get some good tools to use if we're going to do more FTS type baking! We only currently have a hand-held mixer with those 2 4-prong twirly thingies attached. A video we saw showed someone making something using a nice stand-up mixer that had a single blade "U-shaped" attachment - is this something only a certain type of mixer comes with? Or is there such a thing as a mixer with different attachments?
Any good recommendations for one that isn't terribly expensive but would do the trick? Same needed for a food processor to make caulimash, etc. :)

Hi Jacki, they are a bit pricy but Kitchenaid lasts a lifetime. Both our stand mixer and food processor are kitchenaid. I'm certain you can find less expensive appliances out there however. I had a Black and Decker food processor for quite a long time that did a good job and it only cost me 30 bucks! Here's the link;

Check out this stand mixer, it has multi attachments and is inexpensive;

Thanks, Doug!
Both of these look great! Another question we had was does it make a difference which attachment you use to mix different things? Like what's the difference between the one that has just one "blade" and the one that has a few blades?
(Now my lack of expertise in this area is showing!!)
Thanks again!
Jacki :)

Hi Jacki, the one on the left is a mixing blade for things like your cheese cakes and other "batter" recipes. The one in the middle is your whisk for whipped cream, fluffy omelets or any recipe requiring air in the material. The attachment on the right won't get much use in your kitchen, it's a dough hook for bread dough ::)

I love my KitchenAid mixer and have had it for well over 12 years. I bought one for my daughter at Kohl's and used my 30% off coupon!

Lol, thanks for the cooking lesson, Doug! I think I get the idea now!

I keep forgetting to share with y'all that the very week we were going to break down and order the expensive Kitchen Aid mixer, he found one at a yard sale that was still in the box (though an older model) for $60!!!!
God is so good!
