General Discussion / Re: FTS vs Atkins

I find that the One Minute Muffin recipe does the trick for me, whether I have it as a muffin, pancakes or bread.  There are so many variations that you can pretty well flavour it to suit whatever crave you are having.

Fiber & dietary fiber are the same thing.  I'm not sure why not all labels read the same way, so go ahead and subtract.

Congratulations on your victory this weekend.  Every time this happens you will feel stronger.  Give yourself a big pat on the back, it is well deserved!

General Discussion / Hallowe'en
« on: October 01, 2010, 02:36:17 PM »
I started to think about Hallowe'en coming up.  In previous years I always chose bags of my favourite chocolate bars to give out in case there were leftovers, then they were mine.  I DO NOT want to bring bags of choclate bars into the house this year.  Too much temptation for me and then I would be giving something to kids that they don't really need either.  I was in the cheese aisle of the grocery store this morning and had a great idea, I think I will hand out the individually wrapped string cheese (0 net carbs, I checked).  I might even tie a black & orange ribbon around a couple and hand them out that way.  So, do you think I will get my house egged for giving out healthy treats?

Dinner Recipes / Re: Chicken pot pie

I made the chicken pot pie tonight and used Mushroom Alfredo Sauce instead of the cream of chicken soup and it cut down on a lot of carbs.  Very easy recipe Owensmath and the muggles even liked it.

Becky:  Don't beat yourself up and get right back to the program.  Did you read Doug's previous post on how to eat at Burger King?  Here is a link to that thread:

If it is ketchup you need and want to put it on your hamburg pattie try the Walden Farms 0 net carb ketchup, put some in a small container in your purse if you know you will be out and possibly stopping for lunch.  You could also carry a tortilla and trash the bun and put your meat with the zero carb ketchup, with the salad on the side.  Just try to plan ahead if you are going to be away from home, just in case you get caught off guard, you are prepared.  Hope this helps.  Not sure if I welcomed you to the forum yet, but welcome and good luck.

Yeah, a fellow Ontarian!!  I don't like beer so I can't comment on it, but as with anything be careful with your portion control and stay within your 20 net carbs (but don't use them all up on your beer, make sure you eat too, LOL!!!)  Just kidding.  Just be careful that the sugar in the beer doesn't set you off a sugar crave and you end up eating things you shouldn't.  Happy Oktoberfest!!

General Questions / Re: cravings
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:27:35 AM »
Yes, just ride out the cravings and try to have some alternatives on hand so you don't give in.  Buy some pork rinds, pecans or almonds for the chip crave,  Make a One Minute Muffin for the bake goods crave, and a tray of veggies in the fridge for when you just gotta have something.  Also the sugar free jello with Reddi Whip is something that helps as well.  Use these things as your crutch while you are detoxing and they will help you to not grab the wrong thing.  We have all been there and it is well worth it to get to where you don't have those nasty urges. If you have a favourite that you are missing, just ask Umpa, Doug or anyone on the forum and they will help you find an alternative that is FTS friendly, so then there is never any reason to cheat because there is always an alternative.  You just have to force yourself to be a little organized to have things on hand to grab first if you need it.  I find that a food diary also helps, that way you don't panic at meal time because you don't know what you are going to eat and just eat whatever.  Keep plugging along, you can do it!!!
