Unfortunately for them - uh NO.  They have gone into voluntary administration.  Honestly $4.00 for one donut, even we downunder baulk at those prices.  On the plus side - less weight to gain. ;)

"You know, she didn't even have the decency to cut the doughnut in half which would at least reduce SOME of the carbs."

I'm wondering if you had to pay as much for a crispy creme donut in the States as you have to pay in Australia if you would do it.  In Australia it costs $4.30 (give or take 10c either way -this was about maybe a year and a half ago) for a plain donut.  On that basis it adds over $8 to make the base for one of these burgers.

General Discussion / cholesterol medication
« on: July 10, 2012, 06:55:09 AM »
At my last visit at the doctors, my doctor has stated that depending on my (forthcoming) resultant bloodworks he recommends that I go on cholesterol medication.  Not that my previous results were that high (6.2 I think - I think it is measured differently in the States).  He just feels it is precautionary.   I have read up about cholesterol lately (especially the articles mouseissue has put on the forum) and am not sure if I want to take medication as a precaution. In some of the articles the medical profession is changing their mind as to the causes/repercussions of cholesterol.

Does anyone want to wade in and give an opinion?

Hi and thanks TooSweet - how do you make your own chocolates?  I write down what I eat as the day goes on and add the carbs as I go.  That 15 minute rule is a sticking point though - the food gets cold  :P  The vegies (and approved fruit) I weigh, the protein not so much.

I googled - OMG what is it with that burger recipe?  It really is sad  :( knowing that a lot people are going to try it.
She seems to be treating her diabetes like it is a celebrity status.
I would have thought if you had a background in 'cooking' you might try to adjust those recipes to avoid medication and help all those who follow her lead.

Dough & Umpa - do the schools/classes ever get back to u with any feedback as to how the kids have gone?  If they have taken the message and implemented changes?  weight loss?

Hi doug - my carb count averages between 5-15 daily, rarely below that or higher.  Activity is sporadic as it is freezing down here at the moment, but have been thinking of dragging my treadmill inside - have to fight my way into the stuff stored in the garage that I haven't unpacked since my move.  I usually work on the house or the garden when weather permitting and exhausted when finished with that for the day.  I know u  say to stop the sugar alcohols - the only ones I have is in the square of SF choc I have at the end of my day with my last coffee.  Please don't tell me I have to give that up (0.02 c/sq).  I may have to submit my meal plans and see if I going awry somewhere.  I don't think I overdoing portion sizes.  Though I have a feelling it may be activity that is to blame.

General Discussion / The Difference between STALLED and STOPPED
« on: July 08, 2012, 04:13:01 AM »
;D  anyone got a definition for a STALLED weight loss and a STOPPED weight loss?  How long is it stalled before it's classed as stopped?  lol
At the moment it seems a snail's pace - not that it's stopping me from continuing.

I have come across lots of mention of Paula Deen - I've never heard of her.  Who or what is she exactly?

Welcome Fletcher  :D U will meet some fantastic people here all ready and willing to help.  I don't think you will face anything that someone here hasn't already faced.  I've found (in my instance) that the more you participate the easier it is to continue on the FTS way.  So once again - Welcome - looking forward to reading your posts.

Hi Waterlily.  Don't worry about yesterday - it's gone.  Treat each day as new with its own challenges.
You are not the only one who wonders if this is the way to go because sometimes (nearly all times) it's so much easier to go with the flow and the old habits.  Now you know better and it will get easier  :D
