Product Reviews / Ole Xtreme Wellness Tortillas??
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:46:12 PM »

Umpa or Doug:  I was shopping today in Buffalo, NY (yes, lucky me lives close to the US border) and came across Ole Mexican Foods Xtreme Wellness Tomato Basil Tortillas.  I wanted to verify that the Nutrition Facts are correct.  It says there are 5g of Total Carbs and 12g of Dietary Fiber and 0g of Sugar.  Is this possible for a tortilla to have negative net carbs?

Here is the website for the wraps:
http://www.olemexicanfoods.com/OLEmenuTortillas.htm

I couldn't find the nutrition facts on their website to verify if there was a typo on the package, but I did find it on another site and it is the same as on the back of the package.

Could you let me know if the net carb count is correct.
Thanks

I think I have all the ideas I need for Thanksgiving.  Actually my sister invited us to her house.  Her husband started FTS the week before I did although he is not on the forum (not sure what his weight loss is, but I know he is amazed at his blood sugar results).  My sister and niece cannot eat gluten, so I'm sure the entire meal will be FTS friendly.  I have forwarded some of the ideas from the forum to them so Thanksgiving should be a breeze.  Thanks for your help.

Doug, the pumpking bread & cookies look wonderful.  I can't wait to try them!  I'm thinking some chopped walnuts or pecans might be a nice addition to the pumpkin bread.  I just love that there are so many possibilities instead of the old way to lose weight by seeing wonderful baked goods and saying "I can't have that".  Thank you for changing my life!!

I was a little skeptical, but I loved the angel hair shiritake noodles.  The chicken parm also turned out great!

Product Reviews / Re: BRAGG'S ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AID WEIGHT- LOSS

For any Canadians out there, I just saw Bragg's Organic Apple Cider Vinegar at Bulk Barn.  I didn't buy it today.  Maybe if I hit another plateau I might try it to give me a little help.

I have actually changed my target weight loss.   I don't have as much to come off as I had originally thought.  I have not been down this low for YEARS, so I was just guessing at what I wanted to weigh. So this means I am now within my last 10 pounds.
Have a great week everyone!

Thanks for the quick response Doug!!  This will also be my first taste of Shiritake noodles.  Your video looked so good that it has me ready to try them, also looking forward to the chicken parm!!

Any suggestions what to use instead of soy flour in the "breading" for the chicken parm?  I have flax meal, almond meal, xanthiam gum, guar gum & baking powder.  I forgot to buy soy flour.  Not quite sure what to use.

Welcome CaliGirl!!  I love your TV show analogy!!  This is the best reality show you could have ever chosen to join.  You will love the eating program once you get started and the people on the forum are a great help as I guess you have already realized.  Looking forward to hearing how you progress.

Gary, so glad to hear you are maintaining your goal weight.  That is so encouraging to the rest of us.  Love the dog food story, it really puts things into perspective.

Another week has gone by and another pound is gone.  Love it!!!  We even had another wedding this weekend and I breezed through it with no problem.  I didn't even have to get out my SF peanut butter cup, they served platters of fresh fruit for dessert.  Have a great week everyone!

Sugar Alcohols / Re: Where do I find Sugar Alcohols on my lables
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:57:15 AM »
Welcome to the FTS forum Dianna.  You will find everyone very helpful and encouraging.  Doug is correct, sugar alcohols are on our Canadian labels as well, but only if there is a sugar substitute in the item.

If you are having trouble finding things at your local grocery stores, check out this thread:  http://fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=837.0
I have ordered a few times from the Low Carb Grocery in Markham, ON http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/ and they have been great to deal with.  Not sure where in Canada you are, but I am in Southern Ontario and I placed an order last Tuesday at 2pm and my parcel was at my local post office (yes, I'm a small town girl) the next morning.  One of the items I ordered wasn't available so they called me to tell me.

Good luck with your new journey, you will find this new lifestyle very easy to follow and to stick with.
