I'm 59 and losing steadily but slowly.  I don't have a specific goal weight but I'm not going to change much once I get there so I'm just enjoying the journey.

I have lost enough weight (66 pounds and counting) that people notice and ask how I did it.  My answer is that I made lifestyle changes including eating a low carb diet.  Most people kind of get that glazed-over look and the conversation ends.  I follow-up with people that seem interested and there have been a few who are having some success.  At lunch today, I'm sharing some of my cabbage lasagna with one of them.

The best advertisement is smaller jeans.

I'll go on record as being a lifelong brunette with the gray slowly taking over.

I finally finished college in '77 but graduated from high school in '70.

Tony,
I think we are both members of the class of '70.  Who knew they'd be the good ol' days?  College in the era of hippies and the Vietnam War was a challenge.

Umpa,
The jelly and chili sauce make a sauce for the meatballs.  They aren't mixed in with the meat.  This recipe has been around since the '70s at least.

That's the right attitude.  Look ahead.  You can't change the past but you can learn from it.  You'll be prepared next month.

Hi, Nana.  I agree that it is easier to keep it simple in the beginning.  Make sure you drink water, too.

You just zoomed to the top of the prayer list.  We'll pray for wisdom for your doctors, too.

My best escape from the stress of waiting is to lose myself in a juicy novel.  You can wrap the cover in plain paper so that you don't have to explain it to the boys.

I have the smallest Keurig and only use in on the weekends.  I get weekday coffee at work.  I love, love, love it.  If you watch for sales, the machine isn't as expensive as buying coffee out.

I grew up in a household with a very sarcastic father and we quickly learned to have a comeback ready to deflect the shots coming our way.  I don't recommend that as a good parenting strategy.  I tried to temper it in my own family but it still bleeds through.

I can see the benefits of having the scale in the kitchen but then you have to weigh your clothes separately so that you can subtract that.

There goes your mother of the year award, Rena.  Now you can relax for the rest of the year and try again in 2013.  It takes the pressure off.
