Ask Umpa / Re: Gravy

I just thought I would experiment with roast beef gravy to perfect it so I don't ruin the Thanksgiving turkey gravy.

I understand how excited you are about the blood sugar numbers going down.  I was surprised how quickly mine came down once I started FTS.  Congrats!

Breads and Crackers / Re: One Minute Muffin - OMG, Ya' Gotta Try!!

I made it with the golden flax and made a grilled cheese sandwich.  It was surprising that something as simple as a grilled cheese sandwich could make me happy, but it seemed like a treat.  I found the bread quite filling and could only eat half of my sandwich.  I guess that's a good thing.  I never used to leave anything on my plate!

This is going to sound silly, but I saw somewhere to put something over your face like a mask and then look at yourself in the mirror.  We find it hard to see the new image and still see the old one.  Supposedly with your face covered you can look in the mirror with a critical eye, because you are just looking at a "body".  This may help you see what others see.  From the pictures you posted you don't look anorexic, they are probably just jealous that they are not where you are.  Congratulations again on reaching your goal.  You seem like a pretty determined guy so I am sure you will do well with maintaining this for the rest of your life.

Do you use it the same way you use cornstarch or flour to make gravy by stirring water into it and then putting it in your drippings?  Does the gravy taste similar to that made with cornstarch?

Thanks for the congrats.  I have to correct myself.  I weigh 2 pounds less than I did 10 years ago when I thought I had such an amazing weight loss.  160 pounds is where I was stuck on my plateau, I am now 157.5.  I treated myself today with low carb pancakes and SF syrup for breakfast.  I received the pancake mix with my first order from the Low Carb Grocery Store in Markham, ON last week.  I had been avoiding making them while I was stuck at the plateau, but totally enjoyed them this morning as a reward for all of my hard work.  It seems funny that I am so satisfied with a low carb treat.  That is not what I would have eaten as a reward back in the old days.  :)

Well I was stuck on a plateau for a couple of weeks and even with going camping this weekend, the scale moved down.  I was so excited!!  Camping used to be a weekend long eat-fest, but I went prepared with my FTS weapons (LaTortilla's, 1 minute muffins, GG Bran Crispbread, etc.).  When my husband was munching out on potato chips, I got out my pork rinds (did not eat them from the bag, counted out my portion) and I had almonds for when he ate salty peanuts (again, not out of the container).  I didn't feel the need to snack every time he did, but I was prepared in case I did.  I didn't keep my food diary while I was gone, but wrote everything down and counted it up when I got home and I was well under the 20 net carbs each day.

I am now at the lowest weight that I reached 10 years ago.  I know the rest of the weight will come off slowly because it has been with me a long time.  I am feeling great, my blood sugar and blood pressure numbers are amazing, my clothes are fitting me different and I feel like I have a little extra pep in my step.
Hope everyone has a great day!!!

We are all behind you, cheering you on.  Just take it one day at a time.  Maybe put a picture of something that will encourage you on your fridge, like an old picture when you were thinner, or a new dress you would like to buy, or a vacation destination you would like to visit.  I find this helps me.  Just know that we are all here for you.  Have a great day tomorrow.

I have some cauli mashed in the freezer right now.  I'll let you know what it is like when I eat them.  I made sure to pat dry my cauliflower before I put it in the food processor to make sure there wasn't extra water in them.
Enjoy the long weekend.  I'm going camping.  Have my 1 minute muffins, LaTortillas and GG Bran Crispbread.  I am prepared!!

Yes, and then they will gain it back again.  I became a lifetime member of Weight Watchers back in the late 1970's.  So much for that!!
