General Questions / Re: Net carbs
« on: February 22, 2016, 12:07:59 PM »
Welcome to the FTS family, bratz984! :) :) :)

I've been living the FTS lifestyle since August 2010, and never looked back.
And never been healthier or happier with myself since I was 30 years old (I'm 64)! ;D

Doug's carb counter is a great reference.
Here are a few more online carb counter references for those items not in Doug's counter.

Ask Umpa / Re: Carb count for whipping cream
« on: February 20, 2016, 12:07:01 PM »
Hi, Mark!

If you cannot find zero carb whipping cream, you have 3 options;

1. Don't buy whipped cream (not a good option if you love it like me).
2. Buy it, but count the carbs to your daily allowance.
3. Make your own with heavy whipping cream (liquid) using a good mixer.

I normally take options 2 or 3 depending on the amount of time I have.

Lean On My Shoulder / Re: Now what do I do?

Of course you're welcome, Susie! :) :) :)

Toxins raise the dickens with our bodies. Levels too high, and it's "lights out" forever.
Elevated blood glucose is treated like a toxin thru our bodies' inflammation response to it.

I believe occasional cleansing is very good for all of us.
I hope that it helps you get to a baseline so that as you add things back one at a time,
you may figure out what is causing you problems.

You remain in my prayers, Susie.

Welcome to the FTS family, Pita0319!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Life has plenty of stress sources.
And stress is one of the most common issues faced by folks trying to change their lifestyles.
Because when we're stressed, we tend to seek comfort in the familiar.

But you CAN change your lifestyle!
It will require 100% commitment to yourself and your health.
After all, wouldn't like to live a nice long healthy life to enjoy with your child(ren)?

So this is the first day toward a much healthier and happier life.
It's up to Y-O-U to make it a reality.

If you need any more support, please don't hesitate to ask.
That's why we're here. ;D

Hi, Susie! :)

I pray you figure out what is messing with your blood sugar levels soon.
And that the solution is easy and doable for you.

A glucose meter should help you in your detective work.

I like easy when it comes to recipes.
The simplicity of your ice cream recipe is awesome.

I'll have to give it a try. ;D

Hi, Susie!  :)

Since like your body is going thru changes, you may have become more sensitive to sugar alcohols. I don't think coffee, cream, or cream cheese would have any thing to do with it. Try using sugar alcohols only on an occasional basis and see what happens.
Sugar alcohols are known for causing stall outs, so they do effect our metabolisms.

It is also possible that you may have an underlying medical condition.
The "change" can cause the thyroid and other organs to not function well and lead to bad numbers.

I'm happy to hear that Mary is doing well in school!  :) :)
And that the school is making accommodations for her health conditions.

From what I hear, there are a lot of single men over 50 out there.
But the problem is finding one that is looking for a real relationship and not something far less. Also, finding a person with whom you have good chemistry adds to the challenge. But I wish you the best in your search.  :) :)

Welcome home, Susie!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Have you been faithfully living the FTS lifestyle???

I had all the medical conditions you described (and much worse) back in the Summer of 2010. In fact, my doctor told me that I might not be around for my next birthday the following January if my condition was not improved.

On August 10 of that year, I started living the FTS lifestyle.
About six months later, my doctor took me off ALL meds to treat those conditions.
He further declared I was no longer diabetic.

I've been living the FTS lifestyle ever since and those conditions have not returned.
Now I have not been perfect in this. I have had my share of slips.
But my health condition has NEVER returned to a pre-FTS status.
And my weight has hovered around my goal for several years now.

Welcome to the FTS family, Lu Ann!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Although there are hundreds of FTS family members across America and the world,
most have been pretty quite the last few months. Not really sure why. Maybe Doug needs to release another edition to his book?

This forum has always been an outstanding source of support for those on the FTS journey to their goal weights as well as helping those who've reached those goals keep them.

Doug, Umpa, and myself are still pretty active here.
And since all of us have a lot of history with the FTS lifestyle, you will still get support for your journey. If you ever have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. ;)

So again, welcome! :) :) :)

Hi, Othertwin! :)

Some whipping creams are zero carb and some are one per serving.
So added the carbs to your daily intake as indicated.
