Meal Plans / Re: TooSweets quest for un-sweetness

Hey Shawn...the last suggestion I had for you is maybe bringing a couple pieces of crystallized ginger...it's a little spicy, but hard and rock shaped, pretty low in carbs in small portion (about the size of a small hard candy) and isn't sweet...it might help you get through the hard candy craving on the road trip. You may not like ginger, I don't know...but just thought I'd throw that out there :)

TooSweet if you got an organic no sugar gum that might help...but hard to find. Morgan...although you asked TooSweet...I SO do that...some days I'll feel totally fine spending my carbs on pudding and ice cream LOL other days...I want hot baked salty food! :P

Today I had two pieces of paleo bread with low carb strawberry jam I made with chia seeds 1 TBS a piece...that was 3 carbs total. For tonight's menu is mashed cauli and zucchini and squash chips baked with flaxseed coating and parmesan dipped in Rao's sauce :D and I had a good work out at the gym! I worked out almost an hour straight 30 mins on treadmill and rode 2 miles on the mechanical body bicycle! Feeling gooooood!

Thanks Tony! What I've enjoyed about gourmet sleuth is that they even have counts for stuff processed in the store...and you can convert grams to cups...which usually Google fails me because one is weight and one is volume or something like that LOL but gourmet sleuth will convert it. Love it! Carbwire is awesome! Never heard of it before! :) Happy low carbing!!!

Shawn, since me, as a vegetarian, everything I eat has carbs, almost...when I go on a trip I make baggies with a couple pickles, or pickled asparagus, some green olives, two cheese sticks, a couple hard boiled eggs, cheese cubes...etc. any of those would work as snack and they do fine even if they aren't refrigerated for a couple hours as long as they are in a little brown baggie or lunch box that is insulated and the car is cool. Maybe that will work for you?

Thanks Shawn...great picture Susie!!! So even though I'm not actually worried about calories and fat...because my doctor thinks this Dr. Furhman's diet is the only way to go, everday I have been calculating Calories, Fat, Sodium, and Carbs...I'm going to put it in his face that just because you are low carb does not mean your other numbers are "too high" because ALL of mine are low :D :D :D and I'm proving that the days I may go over by even 1 carb, are the days I don't lose or actually gain ;) I do have to watch the sodium though because of the swelling and the renal failure diagnosis...I found out that it is borderline renal failure...it has to do with my lower sugar level, enemia, swelling, hypertension when swollen, and headaches. I'm excited about producing my report and putting it in his face LOL anyways, I found yesterday I went over by one carb I think...and I'm the same weight as yesterday...so I'm going to watch more closely...my eggs said 1 carb per egg so that's the carb I went over. And I've been eating too many sugar alcohols for sure. Time to put the sugar alcohol snake at bay :P Excited for dinner tonight too.

Hey thanks everyone! Doug and Shawn, you know, I'm not big on frying...my husband burnt down a house once with that method, so I think right out of the oven will work for me. I think tonight, if my hubby doesn't make me cook a big meal for him, I'm going to do one for me :) I'm going to make zucchini chips and mashed cauli :) Shawn...I love that recipe! The only thing I am trying to avoid is too much sodium from cheese, I'll let you know how it goes!!!

I kind of have that same mentality...if I eat 1 carb too many, I might as well go 1,000. I have a bit of an extremist mind set...meaning everything is to one extreme or the other! I totally understand!
