Lunch Recipes / Re: Tuna Patties
« on: October 18, 2010, 12:57:18 PM »
I tried the tuna patties for lunch today.  They were very good.  I put a few shakes of Frank's Hot Sauce (0 net carbs) on top to eat them.  It just gave them a little extra zip.

Mouseissue I actually did find Bella Vita (4net carbs per 1/2 cup) at the Low Carb Grocery that I order from as well as they had Walden Farms marinara sauce (0 net carbs, if that's possible).  Anyway, they are on order and I'm looking forward to trying them.  I also think I will make a trip over to Buffalo this week and check out one of the Walmart Superstores there to see what interesting things I can find (I even have a hard time finding pork rinds here).  So thank you very much, it helps to know names of products.

Why do you think it is soggy when I cook it in the microwave ?

Jo, maybe try adding an extra 10 seconds on to the microwave time.  When you dump it out of the cup, let it stand a few minutes to firm up a bit.  They are quite moist (I wouldn't call them soggy), but I like that they are not dry old muffins.  Just wrap you mind around the fact that they are just slightly different, but way healthier than any flour muffin you used to make.

He should make it for you.  You shouldn't have to make your own birthday cheese cake.

Well I'm up 1/2 lb. this week.  Even though I tried portion control with all of my wonderful pumpkin baked goods, I was eating them every day and I guess it caught up with me.  I still have a loaf of pumpkin bread left, so I put it in the freezer.  So I guess it's back to jello & reddi whip as my treat this week and cut way back or eliminate the sugar alcohols.  Have a great week everyone!!

beebs mentioned this red sauce (Monte Bene Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce).
It's $4.99 a bottle (I think 18 oz.) and has only 1 net carb per 4 oz..

Thanks Mouseissue & Beebs, but Amazon won't ship pasta sauce to Canada.  I tried and this is the message I got back:

I guess I'll have to keep looking or go on a shopping road trip.

Jo, I posted how I make the OMM pancakes on page 4 of this thread.  The only thing I do now differently is I add a splash of heavy cream.  You still have to spoon it out of the cup onto your frying pan.  They are sooo good!!

And there is always the work carb that spell check wants to change to crab.

Yes, I even ate a piece for breakfast one day.  I figured the pumpkin was like having vegetables for breakfast so I don't think it was a bad thing, I just adjusted the rest of my daily carbs around it.  You really do have to be careful with portion control because it is sooo good!

It is easier to get through the holidays with these great recipes because you are not choking on the guilt of indulging in treats that are bad for you.  I don't know about you, but in the past, anytime I ate things that I knew were putting pounds on me, I would feel so bad later.  FTS is so great!  I love being able to have treats and enjoy every bite without any guilt.  Thanks Doug & Umpa!!

General Discussion / Re: Xylitol Question
« on: October 17, 2010, 10:57:17 AM »
Paula, the other brand  of xylitol that I found that is a very fine grind is Xylitol Canada, which I have found at the Low Carb Grocery (Canada) online and also a local Gluten Free Bakery sells it (I only stop in to buy xylitol now, I don't buy baked goods).  I found this place before I knew about FTS when I ordered a cake for my sister who can't have gluten.  I ordered the cake gluten free and sugar free and the owner told me about xylitol, which I had never heard of before.   They also had bags of it for sale, so I picked up one to try.  So now I stop in for just xylitol, no baked goods, honest, I'm a good girl.
