:D  Welcome Elena -It is all new and exciting and I am sure you will do well.  I sympathise with the fact you have to take all that medication - it can't be fun.  Hopefully with this new way of eating some of those symptoms may ease.

General Discussion / Re: Sugar Withdrawl
« on: September 02, 2012, 01:28:27 AM »
Hi cindle - welcome, I'm sure you will do well.  Everyone here is so helpful - just ask.  From what I gather, sugar withdrawal is different for everyone.  I didn't suffer as badly as some - I mainly had terrible cravings for bread and pasta. If you have planned ahead then that's great, you will have stuff you can just grab.  Best advice is to clear out all the stuff that you will no longer need.  I packed up most of the stuff I would no longer eat and sent it to my youngest daugher who is sharing a house with friends - it was greatly appreciated.  I cook for the local craft shop on a monthly basis and my kids/friends come to visit - I actually just put all the 'no no' stuff on a separate shelf so when I cook for them it is there, but for me all my stuff is within easy reach in the pantry and fridge - no temptation.

Enjoy the ride  ;)

General Discussion / Cruising
« on: August 28, 2012, 01:53:29 AM »
In about 12 weeks or so I am off on a cruise (also 3 days in Thailand - not sure about food availability) with a friend and not that I am concerned as to whether there would be  suitable foods to eat on board - I am sure there will be - but I am wondering if there are 'side effects' to falling off the fts wagon so to speak.  I will do my best to stay true to fts but........  Apart from having to do sugar detox again later, what (if any) problems might I experience (I want to be prepared), eg stomach upsets, migraines.  How bad do I have to feel if I give in and am tempted to have that cake, pasta or ice cream?  Thanks all.

Ask Umpa / PB fudge
« on: August 28, 2012, 01:44:00 AM »
Hi umpa - I made the fudge.  It set and looks like fudge but tastes more peanut buttery than fudgey.  Did I do something wrong?  Instead of 20 drops zero I only put in 11 or 12 as zero is usually too sweet for me.

General Discussion / Re: Very slow

Hi Ann - I agree.  I am 55 and 10 months and it is slow going.  They do say post/menopausal women take a longer time to shed weight and I think I agree.  Everyone (well not everyone) on the forum seems to just shuck off the weight like no-one's business.  I think I average out at about 1.5 lbs a week.  So Sandipp I wish I was losing 10 lbs in 3 weeks - well done by the way :D.  I am following in our illustrious leader HT (Head Turtle - Tony - Mouseissue - by the way Tony is there any significance to the name Mouseissue?) slow and steady will win the race. I intend getting there in the end!!!!! Waiting to do that happy dance and girly squeal.

General Discussion / Bacon & Eggs
« on: August 23, 2012, 05:46:55 AM »
Is it wrong to eat bacon and eggs every day?  I used to vary my breakfast but at the moment I seem to be stuck on having an egg and 2-3 slices of bacon on a daily basis (if not for breakfast then another meal).  It satisfies me for hours on end but am wondering if I should make a supreme effort and not make it daily.  Maybe I'll get sick of it eventually, but at moment don't see it happening.

Thanks umpa.  Hmmm just like jicama, never seen this yellow squash around.  Will keep an eye out for it though. Wonder if the recipe will work with zucchini.

I tried the zucchini cakes - yummo.  I want to try the squash casserole, but before I do I want to check what you americans class as squash - here it is a little yellow button vegetable with bumps around it (reminds me a bit of a squashed star fish).  Is this the same vegetable?  What do you class as hard squash (never heard of it here)?  Also is pumpkin just pumpkin?  Thanks all

Ask Umpa / Re: binder for meat loaf?
« on: August 20, 2012, 03:37:36 AM »
Hi chella - when I make rissoles or meatloaf I use the flaxseed meal (golden).  It binds well and is 0 carb.  Also on the plus side, it also gives you extra fibre.
