Chocolate is harmful to animals too, but humans still eat it.

WTG Alex.  Once you get a feel of what you can eat your planning becomes easier.  I still keep a daily food diary.  It takes less than 5 minutes to plan what I am eating for the day and leave myself extra carbs for a snack if needed during the day.  I then add it up at the end of the day and just give a quick look to see if I could have cut something down or used something else to make my day lower in carbs.  That way I know for the next time I eat that particular meal what to do.  If I saw somewhere I could have cut out carbs, I usually write it in the column so I can see it if I look back to see how I made something.  It is like second nature now.  So good luck and have fun with your menu!

Ladyluck I was having a hard time finding things too, until I heard about ordering online with The Low Carb Grocery in Markham, ON http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/ .  They are great to work with and usually have your order to you the next day.  Shipping is $7.99 or free if you spend over $100.  The other things like golden flax meal, almond meal, xylitol, shiritaki noodles, black soy beans and a few other things I find at my local health food store.  Bulk Barn also has things like soy flour, Black Diamond S.F. Almond Milk (which is also at the regular grocery stores with the Carnation milk), unsalted nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans).  It was like a scavenger hunt in the beginning but I'm finding things ok right now, although I still haven't found a really low carb red pasta sauce.  I hope this helps.

Paula, I have found 2 brands of xylitol that are very fine grind.  One brand is Emerald Forest http://shop.emeraldforestxylitol.com/xylitolsweetener/emeraldforestxylitol-edulcorant-1lb-bolsa.htm  (actually I see on their website, they even have xylitol toothpaste).  I'm not sure what the other brand is but but I'll see if I can find out for you, I'm pretty sure my Mom has some in her cupboard.  The NOW brand is a little more crystally.

I live in Canada and was wondering if there is a difference in the actual net carb of 5 Miniature Reese's cup?
The nutritional information on the bag of sugar free Reese Miniature peanut butter cup is 27g Carbs - 2g Fiber - 20g Sugar Alcohols = 5 grams of net carbs for 5 pieces.

I modified the recipe and was figuring the net carb per potion and realized that my Reese's pieces appeared to contain more carbs then the one posted.

I checked and there is a difference on the net carb count on the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups from the U.S. and the ones from Canada.  I looked when I was at Walmart (Canada) today at they say 27g carbs, Fiber 2g, Sugar Alcohols 20g, from Hershey Canada, Mississauga, ON (5 net carbs for 5 pieces).  I actually had ordered some from the Low Carb Grocery and they must get theirs from the U.S. because they say 27g carbs, Fiber 6g, sugar alcohols 20g, from Hershey, PA (1 net carb for 5 pieces).   Is there a difference how they count fibers in Canada and the U.S.  You would think Hershey would use the same recipe for anything they make, no matter in which country.

Thanks mouseissue but I'm looking for red sauce, I have found low carb Alfredo no problem.  I guess I'll have to map out all of the Walmarts, Tops and Wegmans in Buffalo and take a trip over the Peace Bridge to see what I can find.  I haven't had much luck finding things in Buffalo.  I haven't even found a good health food store there yet.
