Desserts and Sweets / Re: Reese's Beanit Butter Mousse

I don't know about the Reeses peanut butter cups, but I have found in a lot of SF things like chocolates in Canada that are made with Splenda instead of other sweeteners, and that increases the carb count.

General Discussion / Pasta Sauce Question
« on: October 13, 2010, 01:50:42 PM »
Question for Canadians or anyone from Western New York State, have you found any brand of low carb pasta sauce.  I keep looking in my grocery stores and the lowest I have found is 6 net carbs per 1/2 cup.  The ones in the health food stores I have found are organic pasta sauce and have more than that.  The pasta sauce from the Low Carb Grocery is 4 per 1/2 cup.  I have even looked in Buffalo at Tops on Niagara St. and Price Rite on Elmwood Ave. and can't find the Victoria pasta sauce that has been suggested that has 2 net carbs.  I don't want to pay the huge shipping and duty fees to order from the U.S.  Any suggestions?

Instead of spaghetti you can use the shirataki noodles or Miracle Noodles, whichever you prefer or whichever you can find.

20 carbs maximum per day.  I have managed vacations, weddings and Thanksgiving and have not gone over 20 net carbs per day.  It just takes a little thought to plan your day around your event .  She could start by having as low as possible carbs for breakfast and try to plan ahead for lunch.  There would more than likely be salad and meat-no problem.  If it's sandwiches she could stick a low carb tortilla in her purse and just take the meat off the sandwiches and have some Russell Stover SF chocolate in her purse to help her pass up dessert.  If she is going to eat like this the rest of her life, there will always be occasions come up that you have to think about before you just start putting stuff in your mouth.  Anyway, that is what I have been doing and it seems to be working.  Wish her luck from us.

Welcome to the forum jx.  What we all enjoy about eating this way is the fact that we don't have those terrible craves that used to trip us up and we achieved this by totally giving up sugar.  But we don't give up the things we love, they are substituted with low carb alternatives.  There are lots of suggestions on the forum to replace our favourites so we have no reason to cheat because we are still eating what we love without  the high carbs or the guilt.  Good luck with your journey and jump in with both feet.

Well I got through Thanksgiving with flying colours!  I had been careful all week to keep my carbs on the low side.  I had a wonderful dinner yesterday with family, TOTALLY ENJOYED THE CRUSTLESS PUMPKIN PIE for dessert and still came in under 20 net carbs for that day eating a nice variety of low carb choices.  I was surprised when I got on the scale this morning and was down 2.5 pounds from last Monday instead of gaining 5 pounds plus in the old days after a big holiday dinner.  I may have to change my target weight again.  Still not into those size 10 jeans that I was hoping for.  I'll guess I'll know the right weight when I get there.
Have a great week everyone!!!
