Thanks for the link.  Amazon link you provided also says product is out of stock. Do you recommend a stand by substitute??

Hi Doug,

A year ago I picked 175 as my goal. The other thing that may be playing into the mix is as my weight has dropped I've had more energy and increased my exercise activity. So maybe I'm still losing fat, but building muscle, which is denser/heavier. At any rate, I'm real happy and thankful to be where I am now.

Thank You!

Hi all!!

Within a few weeks of first year of Fat to Skinny lifestyle. Am down 62 lbs, 241 to 179,and feel very good, and thankful for discovering Doug's book. Annual physical and blood work in a month, and anxious to see what the numbers look like.

Weight has been more or less flatlined for about 6 weeks. Diet is the same as usual. Could probably lose another 5 lbs to be at ideal weight. Was wondering if the body reaches a point where it wants to be and holds that weight?? That's kind of what it feels like is going on.

Anyway,   best wishes to all. Stick with it and you'll have good success.

General Questions / "other" cookbooks
« on: March 03, 2012, 11:55:24 AM »
I  was recently given a copy of a cookbook authored by G. Stella (food network). His personal story is alot like the rest of us who are practicing the F to S lifestyle.

Am not asking that you endorse (or not) this book, but just wondering if you have found his carb counts for his recipes to be accurate?

Thank you in advance for your response!!

Seven months after starting, am now down 58 pounds, from 241 to 183.  Have lost every week but one. My wife is participating as well and is down over 40 pounds. It's nice to have the support and not have to plan meals for each of us, individually. Confession: We did cheat a little, enjoying every last morsel of a few BLT sandwiches this summer. We couldn't resist the home grown tomatoes!!! Am expecting the next few months to be a challenge as we usually have lower energy levels and want "comfort food" during the winter months. A by-product of living in the gloomy Northwest climate.  Gonna try to stick with the program, though.

Best wishes, and good luck to all. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Hello friends!!

Continuing to drop, down 49 lbs. since the first week in March. From 241 to 192, today (hope my math is right!). Rate of loss has slowed, but trend is still down so I'm pleased with that. This plan works if you'll be honest with yourself and do what Doug says.

Wishing best success to you all!!

Greetings All!!

Last checked in a couple of weeks ago, so thought I'd update. Continuing to have good success after the 10th week (I think). Down to 203 from 241 and all is well. Feeling good and energy level is good. Actually, food is not even a big deal to me anymore. I eat 'cause I'm hungry and to stay alive. Not because of craving this, or that, or habit or whatever. I'm kind of surprised how easy it has become!!  Loss per wk. has slowed to about 2.5 lbs.  That's o.k. though, as long as the trend is down.

Everyone hang in there. You can change your life, like I am. And if you'll stick with it, it becomes easier and easier.

Best wishes for continued success to you all!!

Having good results after 1 month. Down 21 lbs, 241 to 220, and feel great. Was a little worried about cholesterol with increased protein and meat. Just visited Dr. for annual and cholesterol dropped from 220 to 121!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!! Other blood work was all normal, as usual. BP also down a fair amount. So, my worries about possibly harming myself by following the program are put to rest.

Thanks Doug, for sharing your knowledge. You're changing peoples lives for the better!!

Hey Jen,

Yes, I had some mild headache, lack of concentration feelings. Coming to the end of the third week , I've been feeling good for most of this week. The plan actually seems to be getting easier as I progress.

Hang in there, you'll feel better soon, and it just gets better!!

Glad to know the dizziness is normal!  Only had a little but it was a bit disconcerting.  Are headaches normal during the first couple weeks?  I've been getting one almost every day, not bad, just kinda there.  I can't possibly be dehydrated I'm drinking enough to keep a large fish afloat!  Thanks! ;D

Hi Jen! :)

Headaches are VERY common during sugar detox.
I'm glad to hear that yours is mild and that you are drinking lots of water.

Water really does help.
Also, drinking a glass of very cold (ice) water when you think your hungry is a good way to find out if what you're feeling is REAL hunger or something else.

Hello all!!

I'm nearly at the end of my third week of lifestyle change. Did experience some dizziness and cravings the first ten days or so. That has all passed and I'm feeling good. Down about 15 lbs., and feeling GREAT!! BP is also down a fair amount, as well. I know that is pretty rapid weight loss, but am quite active, biking 6 miles a day, and trying to walk another 2, most days.

Thank you all for the support and good wishes. It's nice to know help and support is just a mouse click away!!

Will have blood work in 2 weeks and am anxious to see the numbers.

Thanks to you all who have responded to my previous posts.

General Discussion / Re: Dizziness???
« on: March 13, 2011, 09:50:43 PM »
Hi Doug and Umpa!!  Yes, the dizziness seems to be pretty much gone. Still a little unfocused? Yes, more than normal. Are the recipes in the F to S book generally for 1 serving, 2, or more?? Have tried a couple and they seem to be quite good. Am looking forward to the Gumbo. Thank you for your reply!!
