General Discussion / Re: I'm BACK !!!
« on: October 12, 2013, 10:32:30 AM »
Thanks everyone but, I'm still having trouble with the ticker tape. I went to update it & when it came to posting it on my profile, that's when I had trouble. If I remember, you put the link to the signature section of your profile. I did that & no ticker tape shows up

So sorry, I left again. I had some friends who lost weight with weight watchers and kept trying to convince me that their way was best. They were losing weight, so I decided to do what they did. It just wasn't working for me, so again, like the prodigal son, I am back.  I think I just wasn't counting the carbs consistently as I did in the past but now, I'm very serious about losing this time & really started to count carbs again & I immediately lost 5 pounds. This worked for me before & this time I'm sticking to it. I'm also going back to the book to make sure I'm on top of it. ;D

Thank you to all who replied to my question & welcomed me back. Alot of what you said is ringing a bell. It's been awhile since I read the book & I thought I remembered all I had to do. But, I guess I forgot quite a bit. I will have to get the book out again. But, I will focus on just staying under the 20 carbs. That is much more simple than trying to figure out calories in & calories out. Thanks guys :-X

General Discussion / Re: Ticker tape

Didn't know how to add more to the post, once it was posted. After I logged out and got back on, the ticker tape was updated. So, if anyone is having trouble seeing the ticker tape, once you've updated it, you may have to log out first.

General Discussion / Fat burned when walking
« on: April 02, 2013, 04:55:03 PM »
I just returned again after gaining my weight back after giving in to carbs. I am walking for exercise and according to my new app, which shows how many calories I've burned, I burned 500 calories today. How do I figure out how many carbs or fat I burned with this information? Is there a way to figure it out? :-\

General Discussion / Back again
« on: April 02, 2013, 04:39:26 PM »
Hi, I posted back in Sept. I described how I regained weight after spiraling out of control after easting carbs again & got right back & immediately lost 15lbs again. Unfortunately, i have a room mate who doesn't diet & is contstantly coaxing me to go out & eat & bringing high carb foods home. I'm determined not to fail again. I'm starting again.  tred to post a new ticker tape to show where I am now at, as far as reaching my goal. It doesn't seem to work. I followed the directions & when I hit the "Change profile" button, it showed me my old ticker. I know it won't show until I've posted 10 times but, doesn't my past posts count?

General Discussion / I'm BACK !!!
« on: September 28, 2012, 04:47:55 PM »
It's been awhile since I've been on. I lost all this weight from following advice on
this book. Then I had one cheat week that sent me spiraling out of control, possible
never to return. Someone mentioned cinnamon rolls & a package product that would
help me make them the way my mom use to make them. I had to try it. I lost control,
they were so good. That seemed to open the door to all carbs, after that. My mom then
became ill, I started to care for her, unfortunately, she died. But, I spent 2 years
caring for her & she was in & out of the hospital for the last 3 months of her life. I
totally neglected myself & did no exercise. I gained everything back.  Now, a year
later, I am back to exercising & following the book & I've lost 15 lbs. I have I have
10 more I want to lose. I have to remember how to do the ticker tape because it
shows my last results, which were great but, I'm not there yet.
I have a question about acitone. I read that if cells don't have glucouse to burn, it
then burns fat & protein. I know that's the key behind your weight loss book. I read
that when the cells burn fat, it produces acitone, therefore making your blood acidic,
which leads to exhaustion & worse. What does everyone on this diet do to combat
acid build up & has anyone had a problem with this? :o

General Discussion / Italian Ices or Snow Cones
« on: April 08, 2012, 03:06:00 AM »
I love Italian Ices or even snow cones. Is there anything low carb out there that I can use to make them. Like low carb syrups of some kind.  Store bought or home made.  Thank You  :)

General Discussion / Losing it but slowly now
« on: October 15, 2010, 11:34:45 PM »
The weight is still coming off. It started out quickly. I lost 20 in 2 months. But, now I'm at a plateau, for about 2 months. I've lost 2 more but, can't get it off as quickly as when I started. I'm not upset, just getting impatient. I know this works and I know I need to add more exercise. I lost the weight & only went to the gym once a week. I use to go daily & never lost. The good thing is that I'm not gaining. So, I know I have to increase exercise. I'm not being stricked on my carb counting, though I do keep it under 20 most of the time and only go over maybe 10 carbs once in a while.  I'll keep updating as it comes off.

Desserts and Sweets / Re: UMPAS BEANIT BUTTER COOKIES
« on: July 29, 2010, 09:34:53 PM »
Hi Umpa....I tried the Beanut butter cookies according to the recipe in the book. I used soynut butter, which I found in the store. I used syrup(with no sugar) 2 eggs; and for the ground up nuts I used ground up almonds. I wasn't sure if it had to be the exact same type of nuts. But whether I use the soynut butter or almond butter (which I found had less carbs than peanut butter, these cookies keep falling apart. I can't pick them up without them crumbling in my hand. I'm getting frustrated.  Should I be using something else?

Don't forget to  count every single carb.  That will make a difference.  Hang in there.

General Discussion / Re: starting today

Good Luck!!!! I remember when I first saw Doug on t.v. promoting the book. I was so excited to start this. Something about it just made so much sense. I bought the book within the next 2 days, read it the same day and went out and bought what I needed to get started. I started on June first. It is now July 13.  I've lost 13 lbs.  This is about half of what I want to lose. I was very impatient in the beginning because I wanted it to come off quick. In reality, it did. But, as Doug says, it's not a race, but a lifestyle.  So don't get impatient, read all the nutritional information on any package of food you intend to eat and GOOD LUCK!!                Lorie

General Discussion / THIS REALLY WORKS!!!
« on: July 11, 2010, 11:44:50 PM »
I WAS A LITTLE INPATIENT AT FIRST. I WAS AT A PLATEAU A FEW TIMES. BUT LOOKING BACK, I THINK I LOST IT IN PRETTY GOOD TIME. IT'S BEEN 5 WEEKS SINCE I STARTED THIS AND I'VE LOST 13 TO 14 LBS (MY SCALE HASN'T DECIDED WHERE IT WANTS TO STAY)  I HAVE 16 MORE TO GO. IF I CAN LOSE IT IN ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME, I'LL BE SOOO HAPPY.   THANKS DOUG FOR LETTING EVERYONE IN ON THE SECRET. GOD BLESS YOU. ;D
