General Discussion / Re: Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease
« on: August 27, 2012, 12:08:28 PM »
20 years ago I went through quadruple bypass surgery. I have done exceptionally well.
After the surgery I went through cardiac rehab. We met with doctors, dieticians, nutritionists and did controlled exersice. One thing that was pointed out was that we can do all we can to make our lives "heart healthy' but, realistically, we can only control 15 to 20 % of it. The rest is heredity. Why is this never mentioned ?
Another interesting point was when a heart surgeon pointed out that when he had to do what he called a redo within five years it usually was on people that were dumb enough to pick up the cigarettes again !
