The breakfast looks great! I imagine that after eating just that, you won't be hungry for HOURS!  ;D

Another vote for potassium and magnesium and calcium. The magnesium will keep you regular too.

Also, LOTS of water.

SO happy you posted this Jo!  I just looked at that stuff in the health food store today and noticed the carbs. Then, I read the ingredients. It said "Wheat, wheat, wheat products, and wheat with wheat extract". At least that's what I saw. And I said "no thanks". Now I know that was a good decision!  ;D

You might try playing with almond flour for lower carb stuff. There are also simple cream cheese pancake recipes floating around on the internet.  And there's also Doug's book.  His cookie in the freezer idea is a good one.

I really need to start ordering this stuff online. That silly little health food store I am forced to go to (until Whole Foods opens) was out of the stuff.

From what I understand in watching that show, many of the hoarders are just plain lonely and/or scared of "life" or other people and they isolate themselves and help their loneliness by surrounding themselves with "stuff".

What the world needs now is love, sweet love...

Yeah, you're all right. I have a plan for easing off of the stuff. But first, I need to finish off my full caffeine coffee. I have a keurig knock-off for single serve coffee so I can use that to supplement the decaf until I can handle the full monty.

Umpa, I'm afraid that if you went on that show, they would just yell at you or be stupid or something like that.  ::) Whatever looks good for tv and supports their dysfunction.

God helps those.....

Just want to add another update here...

I've been seriously thinking about how hungry I am or how much I am eating and it's working GREAT!!!  I don't know why I was on overconsumption autopilot but I was.

I "did" count both the calories AND carbs for breakfast and lunch, but I eat the same thing every day for those two meals unless it's the weekend so that's easy. It's a little harder to keep the dinner cals down but the other day, I made my stir fry green beans and said "one tbsp of oil is plenty for this" and it worked well. I think I see what they mean about eating fat is good for you but eating too much is not.

Of course, I had a few slips but just in general, I feel MUCH better now that I'm not overconsuming. As a bonus, I don't go through as many groceries and I don't need to spend as much money!

I have no idea why it took me so long to figure this out.  ::) Oh well.

OMG! I look at them and think the same thing. That little girl may be in pageants now, but when she gets older, she will probably be too heavy to compete. Too bad TV is advertising this as "entertainment".

There's more salt in commercially prepared food.  That can cause water retention but it's temporary.

Cobb salad, no tomatoes, is my standard eating out option.  I have business lunches fairly often and it's available almost all the time.

Cobb salads are excellent. I think avoiding tomatoes is also a very good idea. The carb counts are just too high.

Hi Waterlilly! :)

Have you been drinking pop that contains caffeine AND too much coffee too? :o :o :o
I'm amazed that you've been able to stay inside your own skin!

Don't torture yourself with stimulants!!!

Being a type A personality (i.e. tending to be hyper). you should avoid (or at least limit) those things that will exaggerate that trait.
Coffee and pop (i.e. colas) can make your journey more challenging than need be.

Tony

All very true. For a while I was doing that. However, the coffee I just bought is lovely, flavored, and ALL DECAF!!! As soon as my regular coffee is gone, I will switch. I can't have any caffeine after noon anyway, otherwise I won't sleep. But I am going to to decaf in the AM all the time. I think that will help.  I def don't need more stimulants besides my own brain!!!  :D

Not only am I stopping the pop ("stop the pop"! I like that. I think it will be my new mantra) I am trying to limit my caffeine intake to morning only. That's gonna take some time. I did however, order some yummy decaf flavored coffee last week so once the regular stuff is gone, I can limit.

I just read an article that says diet pop messes up your gut bacteria and can affect your metabolism.  I know for me it just makes me crave sweets even when I don't need sweets. I just quit the stuff again. I'll keep quitting until I can finally walk away from it. I feel better when I do.

Alicia I keep sweets in the freezer so they are not in my face. That may work for you ;) That way if you want something you can have it when you have a craving and don't have the I have to eat it before it goes bad :D

Excellent idea!

Alicia - No TJ's in Austin? Sure, I could see maybe none in Houston, but Austin? Very surprising.
