thank you for the input.

i understand you subtract out the fibers and sugar alcohols to achieve net carbs.  but if you look at some labels the breakdown of carbs (fiber, sugar, sugar alcohols) does not equal the total carbs listed.  some of the them have a very wide difference.  do we need to be concerned with the difference or simply pay attention to just the sugar grams?  the label below shows what i'm trying to figure out.  are the net carbs on this label 28g?  notice it only shows 5 sugar grams and 3 grams for fiber.  there are a BUNCH of carbs here that are unaccounted for.  if that is the case one serving of whatever this was a label for would put us passed our daily carb intake correct?

General Questions / Missing Carbs in label

we are just getting started with this "program" and have been really reading labels for the last few days.  the one thing we can't figure out is what are the "missing" carbs and do they need to be counted.  we've found many labels that will list the total carbs but when it breaks down those carbs into Sugar and Fiber (just as the book explains), many times those totals do NOT match the total carb count.  what are the "missing" carbs and do they need to be counted?  or do we simply look at sugar grams and forget the rest?
