General Discussion / The Science

Doug!
It was good to hear you on the radio Monday morning!

Here is a blog I was pointed to about the science behind Ketosis.  I spent a lot of time in the biology classroom in college, so there was quite a bit of "oh yeah, I remember that", when I read it.  Maybe someone here will find it as interesting as I did.

Enjoy,

Hi all!  Long time no chat... Well, we are moved in, but still unpacking.  I have had to focus on the yard before the blackberries and poison oak take over everything.  Luckily (or not) my wife has found the bathroom box containing the scale...281.1  :-\

Up 3.3lb since my last report (4/8) and with all that's gone on since then (and my crappy eating) I am really surprised it's not more.  Although, I don't feel like I have gained anything and continue to notice that clothes keep getting bigger?

With the new house/baby settling in a bit, things should get back on track.

Packed the scale so no update...
But the dentist noticed a change.  I also spoke to him about the increased sensitivity of my teeth.  He thought is was just a reaction to the diet change and that it would abate over time.  I have noticed it less, but I am also taking (when I remember) a calcium supplement.  Anyone else get sensitive teeth?  Maybe because I used to drink A LOT of milk daily?

Sorry for the absence...
279.2 today
Our daughter Penelope Rose was born 3/25.  (Baby and mom are both doing fantastic!)
Our house sale closes in two weeks, just finished cleaning out my old bedroom at my folks place...going to be cozy with our family of (now) 5 in there.  Ok, we also cleaned out my sisters room.  Our 2 & 3 year olds will bunk in there.  So I was stretching it a bit there.  Gotta love moving back in with mom when you're almost 40!  Short term solution.  We never expected to sell our house in 3 days!
Just put an offer in on a house today (third time is a charm).

I'm so far off he wagon, I can't even see the horse!  I'll get back to logging my eating in a couple weeks or so, just need to focus on family and house stuff for a bit.  I do find it reassuring somewhat to see my weight still going in the right direction...albeit slowly.  I am very ok with it!

Thanks for the encouragement

I've found that if I use the cheese grater attachment to the food processor, it gives me bigger, more panko like "crumbs" from the pork rinds.
I have yet to try the spicy ones though.

Beware of the rice Krispy treats...One of my top three arch enemies.

My daughters 2nd birthday was this weekend and she wanted a purple octopus cake.  We made the legs out of rice Krispy treats and I sampled a few...ok I finished off what wasn't used on the cake and licked the pan clean.

So I'm pretty happy with only being down a half pound last week.  283.5

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep...sorry for the Nemo reference.  Kids just watched it and I have that stuck in my head!

It's funny.  I've been thinking that lately I haven't been losing what I think I should, but if I look back from when I started  my average is about  a half pound per day...same as it was about the  end of December. Kinda cheered me up a bit I guess.
