Thanks, Umpa!
I have been using splenda (because I have a box of it in the house). Splenda is probably not the best choice for me anyway. What about Stevia? I just bought a packet of that, but haven't tried it,yet.
Thanks,
Diane

General Discussion / Re: Vacation shopping in my own closet!

I started 60 days ago. I've only lost 19 lbs. I have lost some inches. Not sure how many, because I didn't measure before I started. I know I was a size 14 and I'm a 12 now. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I could lose weight eating bacon & eggs!! My co-workers think I'm eating unhealthy, but my blood testes say otherwise.

Missed a few questions. The eggs I fry in butter (yum). I am not a drinker. I am the designated driver :)

Thank you, everyone, for your responses. The Coffee says 4 carbs (tassimo box). I'm pretty sure that should be accurate, and I only drink 1 of those per day. (although, sometimes I like to do a bulletproof coffee in the afternoon if I need some energy). The cheese is the little round ones (babybel,it says 0 carbs on the label). I am 50 years old. I work for the school district as an EA. I walk a hill every morning for crosswalk duty. I walk stairs all day to get around for my shift at school (two level building). I am pretty active. I have had a hard time losing weight the last couple years (since I've been sick, necrobiotic xanthogranuloma). The first tumor showed up on my thyroid. This had me concerned about my thyroid. I've been told my thyroid function is normal (although, my guts tell me different). I am 5'7 tall and used to be a size 9 (at my healthy state). I went up to a size 14 since being sick). I am down to a 12, but still have a way to go to get back to my healthiest place. I have always been muscular/athletic. I've had people tell me I'm bigger because it's part of getting old. I do not buy into that philosophy. I know my body pretty well. I know that I should be a size 9 to be my healthiest. I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. although, sometimes, I'm finding I need a 20 minute nap after work (I do chemo twice a week and it really wipes me out). Hope that answers everyone's questions and helps to analyze/tweak my program for success.
Thanks everyone,
Diane

Still trying to figure this out. I've had to lower my carb intake to lose weight, because weight loss had staled.

Breakfast:
I scrambled egg=0
2 slices of bacon=0
1 cup coffee(Tassimo latte)=4

Lunch:
4 slices bacon=0
2 oz cheese=0

after school snack:
1 minute muffin=2

Dinner:
1 cup lettuce=2
3 oz turkey/chicken=0
1 oz. cheese=0
1 mini yellow pepper=2
2 T. ceasar dressing=1

Through out the day: plenty of water & tea(no sweetner)

I have been on program for 59 days and currently down 19 ibs. Am I doing this right? I thought I would've lost more weight by this point and I am getting a little discouraged. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Congrats on your weight loss! :) I got a little stuck at first on the "how much/how fast" part. I had to just let that go and let my body do it's thing. We all are different and our body is not going to lose the weight at the same rate as someone else. That was a hard thing for me to mentally get past. Now, I'm just eating FTS and not "worrying" about the last time I weighed or measured my body. I know I'm losing weight and I don't want to weigh too often or I get discouraged. Stay positive and stay on plan. This DOES work (it's science).  ;D Keep up the good work (and it is work avoiding bad carbs)! ;D  ;D

General Discussion / Re: ketones

Susie,
Thanks for the info. I did not know that ketosis had that effect on inflammation. But, that makes sense. My inflammation is gone and we couldn't figure it out(LOL). My Dr. was surprised by the last blood test. He said we thought you had high inflammation. I think he thought he mis-read a test or something! Too funny. I love how much I learn from the FTS family members  ;D
Thanks,
Diane

General Questions / Re: Flax Seed

Ereino, What a great idea. I haven't tried to make it as a loaf. (My husband usually laughs at my steaming ,ugly, mug muffin after I dump it onto a plate. It is pretty ugly.) To toast it would be nice for variety.
Umpa, I would love your recipe. I've been pretty limited on what I've been eating. I have a bad habit of getting into a routine(because it's safe and I don't have to worry about going over my carb limit). It would be smarter to have more variety, so I don't fall off the wagon. Although, I haven't fallen off, yet. I'd have to look at my calendar, but I think I'm on day 52.It's hard to believe it's been almost 2 months. It's gone pretty fast. My weight loss has slowed down, but my body feels like it's changing. I'm really just grateful to have any success at this point. Everything I've tried before FTS was not working at all, very discouraging. My first tumor showed up on my thyroid. I've been worried about my thyroid function. They've done several tests and said my thyroid is fine. But, my gut says differently.....
Thanks for the advice,
Diane

Thanks, Umpa. I will check with my Dr. The nettle concoction sounds interesting. I'll have to read up on it. Is there a place you like to go on the internet to research herbs?
Thanks,
Diane

Umpa,
Where do you get MSM? Can I take it while I am doing chemo? I am currently on Velcade(chemo). I am trying to figure out what I can add to my diet to help my body heal itself.
Thanks,
Diane

So sorry to hear that you are in pain. That creates problems of its own. Do you have a nutribullet or a blender? I'm thinking....baby food. If you run your FTS approved foods through a blender, they'll be soft enough to eat. Although, they may not look very appetizing! ;D Good luck, and don't get discouraged. Be creative! You're in my prayers :)

Booze! / Re: Going without alcohol when everyone else is drinking
« on: March 27, 2014, 08:35:28 PM »
Good Job!  :)It's hard to be the odd duck, not participating in the festivities of drinking. I usually order a pitcher of beer for my friends and a pitcher of ice water for me! Most people are pretty supportive of the "designated driver". No need to even approach the subject of dieting......(that subject is up there with politics & religion!). Keep up the good work, good choices! ;D
