Hi Sherri,

I am still considered a newbie, but I just had to add my 2 cents worth!  Everytime I read your post I just get so inspired with what you have done to change your life.  You are a whole new person and it is all because of this program and what YOU chose to do with it.  It reminds me if I work mine with more diligence I can too make a big difference in my life.

So...........a great big CONGRATULATIONS from all of us who are still trying to work our program for all of the wonderful inspiration you share with us everytime you post.

God bless!

Dinner Recipes / Re: another version of cauliflower mashed potatoes?
« on: March 28, 2011, 11:11:18 PM »
Welcome jbonaiuto to the forum.

Umpa is right, this cauliflower mashed potatoes is awesome.  I rarely ate cauliflower before and now it is one of my favorite veggies.  It just tastes so good and so much like real potatoes. I fix mine in the food processor after cooking till tender, then just add some Smart Balance margarine and some low fat sour cream for a yummy dish.

I work and take my food with me for lunch and the other gal keeps asking me what I brought today.  Sometimes she asks for a taste and really likes a lot of the foods.  She is diabetic and I keep telling her how much better she would be to try it the FTS way.  I tell her how Doug changed his life eating this way and how the cravings go away. I think that is the best part, just not to be craving all the time.

I cleared out all of my leaves from the garden since my pereniels are beginning to raise their little heads from the ground and by picking up the leaves, managed to pick up a nice case of poison ivy/oak/sumac, one of he above.  I've tried for a week to get it under control, but finally had to go to the doctors today as the arm was getting red and swelling.  He said I managed to pick up poison "something" and now I am on predesone for 8 days.  I don't usually like to take any meds but didn't have a chance on this one. One of the side effects is to make you eat more and tomorrow night we are supposed to get snow!  So much for Spring hanging around.

So Tony,

Now I'm curious, are you telling me I can freeze spices?  Guess I never thought of that.  I guess I just thought they would get moist and stick together into a big blob that I would have to throw away and spices aren't cheap!

If you can freeze spices, would you please share the types that can be frozen?

Learn something new everyday!

Congratulations Tony,

What an amazing journey and you did this all with 18 eggs a week, if I remember right!  You give me hope for my cholorestal to be better in a few months.

Congratulations on all of your hard work, enjoy that beer and keep up the good work! ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D

Hi Tony,

Well, I responded to your message but I think it ended up somewhere in cyber space and it never showed up here. Guess it's late and time for me to hit the sack for the night.

Anyway, just glad to hear you are still drinking the Braggs ACV as I've heard many good things about it and I really enjoy my hot drink in the morning since I'm not a coffee drinker. Green tea, raspberry flavoring and ACV is pretty tasty. Maybe I'll  have to put it over some ice soon as we are trying to celebrate Spring here in Cincinnati, as the sun was actually out for a little while today.  Woohoo!

Congratulations on your continued weight loss, you are an inspiration to a lot of us beginners as well as the rest of the members who have lost 50+ pounds.  Way to go, that ticker just keeps moving forward!

Well, after reading this thread, I went out and got a bottle of Braggs ACV and it's not bad. Every morning I put 1 tablespoon in hot water with a green tea bag, then add a little of the sugar free vanilla flavoring and it's not bad at all.  Actually I've kind of gotten use to it and feel like I'm drinking a healthy drink.  Just another thought!

Product Reviews / Re: Sensato High Fiber Hot Cereal
« on: March 02, 2011, 09:12:53 PM »
Thanks for the thread of Sensato High Fiber Hot Cereal.  I was really missing my daily bowl of oatmeal and even though it is not oatmeal, it's pretty good!  I also noticed that I was not hungry even a little until lunch.  Placed my first order with netrition and it came in two working days for only $4.95 shipping. What a deal!  I got the strawberry and the vanilla almond as these were the two flavors that were out of stock when I looked, so I figured they must be the most popular flavors.

I will definitely order again and thanks for the input.  I've found a new breakfast food that I can have once or twice a week and not feel guilty!

Thanks Rena,

I've been using egg beaters and if hard boiled, throwing away the yolk for now.  They are pretty tasty once you get used to them.

Before I started this program, my cholorestal was good, now the LDL (lousy one) is higher and the doctor asked me if I stopped taking my Lipitor?  I then told him what I was doing as I had losst 13 # by then.

He said that he has seen maybe 1 in 10 people that follow this type of program and the cholorestal gets worse instead of better.  However, he also told me to keep on doing what I am doing and he also thought that maybe my body was just adjusting as I continue to lose weight.  He wants to check me in 4 months instead of 6 and said he would even consider raising my Lipitor dose since I am on the lowest amt. Of course, I wanted to be off of it completely as I hate taking any kind of medicine.  So I will just have to try  a little harder and be a little more patient, which is hard for me at times.

I do feel lots better and not so sluggish so changes are happening.  Hang in there and good luck.

General Discussion / Re: How much and how long?
« on: February 18, 2011, 09:29:44 PM »
Congrats to all of you wonderful "losers". What an achievement big or small!
I'm only down 13 pounds, but its the first time in a very long time I have lost weight at all and kept it off.
Even when I've had a bad day or two, as soon as I get right back on, the scale goes right back down.
I am walking almost every night with friends for an hour, which makes me feel wonderful and the clothes are getting loose.
I think my biggest problem now is in the beginning, I used the cream and butter to help offset what I wasn't eating and thought everything tasted great. Now since my bad cholorestal was up and the doctor wasn't happy, I have tried to cut out the butter, cream, bacon, etc and am having a harder time staying  within my 20 grams some days.  I wish I just didn't worry about it so much and get on with the process.
I really miss my oatmeal that I used to eat every morning and I really think that helped my cholorestal to stay down.  Izzet, I think I will order some of the Sensato High Fiber Hot Cereal you talk about.  Maybe that will help with the cholorestal.  Keep up the good work, you guys are amazing!!

Product Reviews / Re: Kroger CARBmaster yogurt! YUMMY!
« on: February 18, 2011, 09:01:50 PM »
Hi Izzet,

I love the Kroger Carbmaster Yogurt, but was a little disappointed as the new flavors no longer have fiber in them, so instead of it being 3 carbs, the new ones I've looked at have no fiber so the count is 4carbs.

For me, I think I will stick to the "old" flavors as at least they have the 1 fiber and are so yummy!  I try to have one in the afternoon at work before I leave as that seems to take the edge off and I'm not hungry when I get home before dinner is ready.

They are yummy and one of my favorites!
