To get it out of the bread machine, I let it cool down completely (over night sometimes) to room temperature.  Then I tilt the pan sideways in each direction while tapping on the opposite side to loosen the edges.  Then Place a plastic lid (off of any old container) over the exposed end of the cake for support.  Hold the baking pan upside down and slightly twist the blade kneading blade, while supporting the the cake while it slides out of the baking pan.  (My baking pan is teflon and may make it easier to get out.)

If you remove the cake from the baking pan while it is still warm, it is likely to collapse.  The cake needs to firm up before cutting and serving.

The cake actually tastes better after a day or so when some of the moisture has evaporated.  I keep it in the refrig without a lid for one day and then keep it in the fridge with a lid after that time.

Breakfast Recipes / Quick Morning Protein Shake
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:34:23 PM »
Any of the ingredients can be changed for different tastes.  The protein powder seems to have an overly sweet taste, but the cranberries and the yogurt seem to negate the sweetness.

FRUIT Version (makes 2    14-16 oz glasses)

In a blender :
ice cubes (I fill a 16 oz glass from the ice dispenser)
about 4-5 ounces of cold water
     1/2 cup plain (greek) yogart
a few frozen berries (any kind, I use cranberries and/or blueberries)

Blend enough to get the ice broken down.

Add any vitamin supplements as wanted/needed (I open the capsules and put the powders into the mix)
     I add:
Vanilla or fruit flavored protein mix (I use one scoop of Body Glove Vanilla Cream- low carb @Walmart)
Physillium Fiber (1 tsp) (Plain or orange flavored)
          Jarrow's "Bone-up" (Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin K, D,etc.)
          Vitamin C
Hyalouronic Acid (For joints and knees)
          L-Arginine (circulation)
          Probiotics
          Slippery Elm Bark (digestive)
          Biotin (prevent hair loss)
          Cinnamon (Flavor and anti-fungus)
Blend again.
Pour into glasses.

For COFFEE Flavored Smoothie
replace water and berries with 2 teaspoons instant coffee already dissolved in 3-4 ounces hot water
add one packet stevia (to sweeten the coffee)

Breads and Crackers / Chips/Crackers for use with dips (Very Easy)
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:22:30 PM »
I discovered "Joseph's" Flax, Oat Bran & Wheat Pita Bread.  Each pita has 4 net carbs.  They come in 2 sizes, I find the larger size to be more efficient.  They are soft when in the package, but when toasted they get crispy.  I use scissors to trim the very edge away to open up into two separate circles, then toast lightly (try different settings, I use light to med), while the pita is still hot, use scissors to cut up into small cracker sized pieces.  they cool down and get crispy very quickly.  One whole pita will make about 20 toasted crackers and the total carb count is 4.

"Joseph's" Flax, Oat Bran & Wheat Pita Bread is great for pita sandwiches.  Use 1/2 a pita for one sandwich, 2 net carbs.  Could also be used for sandwich wraps by cutting edges off with scissors to open up into two circles.

NOT GLuten free.

I found this pita bread at the grocery story (Publix in Florida).  They also have a website.
