Desserts and Sweets / Re: Umpas Peanut Butter Fudge
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:45:14 PM »
Hi Umpa! Doug has really gone backwards from where he was.....thankfully his eyes are still doing good, he is still getting the injections but spread out farther apart now.  We are back on FTS as of the first of the year with his promise to be FAITHFUL this time.  He is back at the gym too.  Praying he hangs in there this time!!! ;)  BTW, the fudge is wonderful, it will be making a regular appearance in our kitchen!

General Discussion / Doug and Umpa How I have missed you!
« on: June 14, 2011, 04:18:47 AM »
Since Doug went off the WOE during the holidays last year I have been keeping up with FTS via Facebook posts...it is just not the same.  I've really missed this "family" and should have hung in here right along.  Doug's doctor told him last week to get back on the program and I believe he is ready after seeing how quickly his health deteriorated when he forgot " sugar is the enemy."  Thank you guys for being here when we need you!!

General Discussion / Re: Supporting my husband.

I'm back on the forum after a few months absence.  It's hard when the one you are trying to support slips back into his non-compliant habits after doing so well and achieving such good results! :'(  I am pretty much at my goal weight but I definitely feel so much better when following the FTS WOE.  ANYWAY...after suffering more set-backs in his health, Doug's doctor told him the other day to get back on FTS and as long as he is willing, I will be here to support him too.  I must say I have missed the interaction with this forum tremendously and am sure it has grown A LOT!  Sugar IS the enemy! >:(  Looking forward to getting back in the GROOVE!

Hey Doug!

I am making a request for the Bakery book!  Haven't been very active on the forum lately due to noncompliance of my Doug and my own frustration.  He appears ready to get back on track and I am hoping this will help!

Thanks,
Paula Chappell

Well, I maintained pretty well but Doug let his blood sugar get too high again so now we are back in the lowering mode.  His doctor advised him to join the gym again so we are going to do that this week when the ice leaves!

Boy, did I get swallowed up in the holidays...but glad to be back here with everyone!  We are "iced in" today so seemed like a good time to reconnect.  I have to mention that I made your coconut cake the other day Umpa and it was luscious, and I am not a big fan of coconut!!!  I am so out of the loop, has the bakery book come out yet?

General Discussion / Re: Peanut Brittle
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:32:01 AM »
Thanks umpa, I know you are busy and I just thought maybe someone on the forum had a recipe.  I tried the one I found that uses a trace amount of corn syrup but it came out chewy...not my idea of optimum peanut brittle.  The See's was very good but also very expensive.  I think theirs had maltitol in it.
