General Discussion / Re: Giving myself a smaller size for Christmas
« on: December 23, 2011, 10:51:49 AM »
Sherri I dropped in today just to check on you and see if you made your goal.  I am so happy for you that you found your comfort size and were able to go shopping for some cute clothes!  My hubby used to work at Dillard's so I know exactly what you are talking about looking down their nose.  Of course my hubby wasn't like that.  Wish I could get rid of my muffin top...it's time for pilates as just fts hasn't gotten rid of it completely.  Some of it is loose skin (yuck!) lol

I was actually able to put on a L aeropostal shirt...they run really small so I completely understand your joy! :)

Congrats on the new you!  Enjoy it girlfriend!  Merry Christmas to you!

It was in an article in my local Canadian newspaper in July 2010.  I thought the article sounded interesting and bought the book to "give it a try".  Here I am 1 1/2 years later, slim, healthy, and feeling fabulous!!  Good thing I read the paper that morning!

Wow ShihTzuMom1 look at you!  Looking good girl!

Oh tell me about it Sherripie...I feel your pain. lol  My thing over the holidays is the rice crispy treats and peppermint bark.  Mom and I always made the treats when I was a kid.  I just look at it and think about how bad it's going to make me feel and remember I have treats to eat when I go home.  Or as one of the other members said...I eat mine before I go out and I'm not tempted. ;)

It's only a few more weeks of this treat fest at the stores. lol

General Discussion / The Daniel Diet: this look familiar??? lol
« on: December 07, 2011, 12:07:16 AM »
Apparently Rick Warren is getting his whole church on a healthy lifestyle to follow the Daniel Diet which is based on biblical principles in the first book of Daniel.  Most of it is what we were taught with FTS. ;) Just glad people are realizing the heath benefits of eating no sugar, low carb, healthy, non-processed foods. Can I get an AMEN!

Exercise! Great stress reliever.  Also, yoga. Relaxing baths. Let the things that stress you go...in the big scheme of things they don't really matter do they?! ;) Read daily devotions for women. The things of this world are of little consequence.  Prayer and time with the Father is the best stress reliever of all.  Just remember that He is in control of EVERYTHING so you need not worry, just do your part and let Him do His.  It changed my life by submitting to Him and asking His will in every situation as well as fully relying on Him.  It takes all the pressure off.  I spent a lot of time trying to control everything...it's a heavy burden to bear.  What a relief it was to give it to Him.

My 2 cents. ;)

Trust that all situations are in God's plan for you both good and bad.  I will pray for His will in your life in this situation.  As Doug said...this has been years in the making even though you recently changed your eating habits.  Trust that you are in God's loving hands.  There is a reason for everything and it could be just to bring it to your attention so you would take care of the problems before they got even worse.

You are in my prayers!

Welcome Cindy!  This is the only lifestyle/way of life that I have been able to stick to for a long period of time. It just takes some adjusting to new ways of eating, cooking and changing your mindset from the foods that we grew up on and are social accepted.  You are never deprived, you just modify to low-carb. ;)

All it takes is the first step and then you are on your way.  First thing I did was clean out my cabinets and fridge of anything that contained high carbs and that bag of sugar! lol

Good luck on your new journey and lifestyle.

You should be very proud of yourself.  One reason that I am glad that I am not working in an office anymore...the temptation of the seasonal goodies.  That's why I always keep my yummy protein bars or some other low carb yummy with me so I'm not tempted.  Hubby however does work at an office and the donuts and other goodies just jump into his mouth and attack him he says...um....yeah...right. lol

Welcome back TabyandZayBaby.  All you can do is do your best and have an attainable goal.  I have never experienced judgement or criticism on this website from anyone so I have no idea what caused you to feel that way.  I know that we are honest with each other because only honesty will keep you honest on the plan. We carb/sugar addicts tend to want to ignore our addiction.  ;)

My daughter is vegan and so was I a few years ago so I understand that pretty much all you are left to fill you is carbs other than veggies and some form of protein.  That is one reason I stopped.  So as a vegan I can empathize on the limited choices.  I would definitely talk to Doug/Umpa and other vegans.  We have a recipe forum for vega. recipes.  Have you seen that?

I wish you the best on your journey to meet your goal.

Sherriepie what a wonderful xmas gift for yourself!  I totally support your goal and I KNOW you can do it.  Look how far you have come already.  Just please make sure that you are eating enough and keeping your energy up.  You want to look and feel your best during the holidays.  I have been waffling about my next goal to get down to my 20s weight as well and have been hanging  out at my current weight for about a year.  I'm thinking after xmas I'll refocus when the stress of work and holidays is over and I can concentrate on me. I'm a supervisor for the the retail merchandisers for Hallmark (Kroger/Kohl's/Martin's/Barnes & Nobel/Hobby Lobby)....this is our busiest time of year until Mother's Day but Christmas is absolutely crazy.

You can reach your goal if that is what you truly want.  Have faith!  I'll be here to cheer you!  ;D
