20 years ago I went through quadruple bypass surgery.  I have done exceptionally well.
After the surgery I went through cardiac rehab. We met with doctors, dieticians, nutritionists and did controlled exersice.  One thing that was pointed out was that we can do all we can to make our lives "heart healthy' but, realistically, we can only control 15 to 20 % of it.  The rest is heredity.  Why is this never mentioned ?
Another interesting point was when a heart surgeon pointed out that when he had to do what he called a redo within five years it usually was on people that were dumb enough to pick up the cigarettes again !

Hello,
I have a question regarding blood sugar.  Occasionally my numbers will go down.  I get shaky and feel weaker. The only way to stabilize them is to get something sweet into me as fast as possible. I know this violates the FTS program.  Is there anything else I can do to stabilize blood sugar.  I am on a medication for my diabetis.

I saw in one of your posts that the use of Splenda can stall a weight loss.  Is there a set amount or just the use of Splenda in general ?  I use no more than three teaspoons per day.  Some days not even that.  Would this affect my weight loss ?

We live in Az. and the summers here can be brutal.  We are now walking for one hour in the swimming pool at our complex. i have a back problem and walking on dry land can be a challenge but in the water I can go for an hour and it helps three things. My back feels better, My cardiologist loves the exercise I am getting and the entire program is helping my weight loss.  Loss now at 32 lbs!

It sure makes it easier when your spouse joins you in this major effort.  She has lost almost 30 lbs. and is getting  compliments everywhere on her appearance.
We plan meals together and are sure getting plenty to eat as we watch the scales go down and our clothes getting too big for us. I'm really proud of my wife for her effort on FTS.

Did I mention that my wife and I are 72 years old and doing very well on the program. I have a chronic back problem which prevents exercise but am still losing weight.  Am under 200 lbs. now.  First time in a long time I have been at this weight.  It's still going down ! I'm very satisfied and determined to get another 15 -20 lbs off ! My cardiologist said he applauds me for the weight loss.

Hello,
I have been on the program now since around Thanksgiving.  weight loss is almost 40 lb. My blood numbers are down as I am diabetic and check my blood every morning.  What a great feeling to give some of my pants away as they are now too big for me !
