Ask Umpa / Re: Barrington Mints

I was thinking about ZERO too... but I don't think the consistency would be right. I know if anyone can figure this out in time for the Holidays... UMPA CAN!  ;D

Could this even be FTSified?
 :D
Barrington Mints
 Makes 150 mints

Ingredients:
8 ounces soft cream cheese (I used Philadelphia regular)
6 tablespoons soft butter (I used unsalted)
3/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract (NOT mint extract)
 2 pounds sifted powdered sugar
 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 drops red food coloring (Mine is pretty strong, so I used only one)

Method:
Melt the cream cheese with the butter in a heavy 3-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.  Turn off the heat, leaving the pan on the burner, and stir in about 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, food coloring, and vanilla. (My note: Add peppermint here as well.)  Stir in the rest of the sugar until well blended.

Line a large baking sheet with wax paper.  Push mint mixture into a pastry bag, icing syringe or squeeze bottle with a decorative tip.  Create desired shapes for mints.  Let set 1 hour.

Store between sheets of wax paper in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month, or in the freezer up to 4 months.  Do not store at room temperature.

Looks perfect to me! I would count the two eggs as one carb though. You could add a little more bacon too if that wasn't enough to fill you up.
(( I would say that though...because I think I am the resident bacon junkie!  ;D  ))

If you still feel like you aren't satisified...try drinking some water before your next meal!

You can do it! :)

:D Hey Emmitt ... Best advice, avoid sugar like the plague. Check your carbs, subtract the fiber and sugar alcohols and you have your NET carb count for that item. Once you figure out how many carbs are in that item you can determine if it is worth it or not worth it to consume it. Stay under 20 NET carbs per DAY. There are some things I enjoy like fruits that have a higher carb count. In order to stay within the perimeters of FST and have my fruits, I adjust the rest of my menu for that day accordingly. Probably the safest way for you to go for the first couple of weeks would be to stick with meats, cheeses, eggs, sugarfree jellos, whipped cream, nuts and the like. The further you get into the process...the simpler it all becomes. I personally like to avoid sugar alcohols too... they can cause some stomach upset.
Go check out the "Ask Umpa" section and she has some amazing and yummy recipes you can try that will help SO much.  :)

Good Luck!!

Swwwweet!  :D Congrats, Girlie!  I know what you mean about lighter on the inside. It was like I was less dense... if that makes sense? lol I started getting softer and squishier too. Don't worry... when you stall a bit, that is when your body catches up and you start to firm. Every step seems to have a specific body shaping purpose! :)

I agree. To be honest... a few times I have splurged and indulged in a wheat product or two since starting FTS. What I have learned is that my body OBVIOUSLY has an issue with wheat. I get bloated, upset stomach, and the next day I get the hungries. I feel so much healthier when I stay completely away from grains.  :-\ I wish it wasn't the case, but I am glad to be better in touch with my body and how it works.
