General Discussion / HeyFriends
« on: April 21, 2014, 02:21:28 PM »
Well it has been awhile ,we have moved and I think I have finely got my thyroid meds close to right . I have ran across some very stupid doctors in the last year after being diagnosed with Hashimotos . Being left on meds that were much to low a dose caused weight gain ,one doctor would not even prescribe thyroid meds because I was eating as he said "too low carb and was causing damage to my thyroid "
I as you know did not lose much on FTS because of my thyroid condition that was misdiagnosed for I know now 10 years . But FTS was the only way I ever did lose some weight even though I was fighting against my thyroid . At least I know now that I will always have trouble losing and it is out of my control . But the way I feel eating FTS is much ,much better then when I eat all the processed carbs so many things go away when eating FTS and come back when not eating this way
For all new people here I have done away with
Headaches
Sinus issues
Acid re flux
constipation
Hemorrhoids
joint pain and swelling
bloating
so for those reasons alone I will always eat FTS if  I lose or not of course I hope to know that I am taking my medication into my own hands .
As far as Tyler (type 1 Diabetic )  goes he is 18 close to 19 and he has fell into the fast food again and he is in deep he has gained a few pounds and is having high and low blood sugars not controlled as it was on FTS . He is a adult and will have to learn for his self when his A1C is high and he has a chance of losing his driving privileges . I do not buy any bad food he has to if he wants it and nothing is in our house . My husband has lost weight and is eating FTS 90% of the rime .

General Discussion / For all the ones at goal or near goal
« on: October 10, 2013, 01:50:21 PM »
Tyler is pretty much where he needs to be ,my question is for the FTS'ers that are at goal or close to it what is a day of food for you ?
Tyler eats very little and I have input it in fatsecret and it is never over 1000  . Is that ok ? Don't want him doing something that may come back to bother him . I know that sometime I do not eat but 2 meals a day his typical day is

Grilled 8 count nugget on his salad around 8-9 am
Then he will not eat gain until 3-4 PM
He will have a bunless hamburger with bacon and cheese ,salad  and 20 carb apple or cantalope then nothing else until around 8
If his sugar is low which is very rare he will have to eat a carb but most times it is some 100 calorie nuts and  r cheese chips  .
Curious to see you meals since you are at goal or have lost most of your weight thanks

tells me that fat is what makes you fat I am going to scream !!!!!!!!!! was talking to someone about tyler losing some weight gaining muscle and having  a GREAT A1C and they still don't get it .
I told them is all we watch is the carb count not the calories and fat so much  (I do have to watch my calories )

how many of you have tracked your calories Fat and carb % ? if you have what are they on a typical day ?

General Discussion / Doug why is it harder
« on: July 01, 2013, 09:11:05 AM »
Doug why does it seem harder when you restart FTS for the second time  or third or .......
Is there any science behind why  it is harder or is really just a mind thing
Just seems so much harder to stick too ,not just for me and Tyler's put from others post I see as well

« on: June 24, 2013, 03:52:18 PM »
Tyler fell off the low carb wagon but he joined the gym today and is back on track . Has for me I did not fall off but have ate things that were consider safe starches Blythe doctor that found my thyroid problem .
As y'all know I thought there was a problem because I was not losing like most here . Well it is hashimotos auto immune which is the answer also to where Tyler got his type 1 diabetes .

Well anyway I am on thyroid meds and we started FTS back to the letter today . Have missed talking to y'all guys ! I started my ticker over so a fresh start !

General Discussion / Hey guys
« on: March 14, 2013, 07:57:30 AM »
Hey guys I come here and read just don't post often . Our family has suffered a great loss my sister has lost her 32 year old son suddenly Monday morning .  :'(

He was at work on his break taking a nap is what his friends said ,so they are not sure what happen . They are doing a autopsy  to find out . They said it could have been a massive heart attack from unknown problems ,blood clot or just stopped breathing .

We do know that he had central sleep apnea ,which is when your brain does not tell your body to breath ,he was never suppose to nap without his machine . But all he ate was processed sugar filled crap which lead to carb coma nap and he worked nights which messes with your sleep . So he probably ate got sleepy and just stopped breathing .my sister is just broken hearted .the food that people bring over is just terrible ,after eating FTS just seeing how unhealthy that food is .i had to go get a cold cut tray.
well we just need your prayers to get us though this terrible loss . Tyler and I or still living the FTS way of live he is doing great and I am still trying to get my thyroid right still losing and gaining the same 10 pounds . I have added my sweet nephews pic ,we will miss him forever and my sister will die with a broken heart  :'(

The berry nut cake in the bakery book can I make that without the berries ?
I love it with the berries but I am wanting to make a coffee cake to take to my sisters next week and I would think that the way that cake taste and the nut topping would be just like the coffee cake we use to buy . Please tell me it would work

Breakfast Recipes / Sausage casserole
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:10:29 PM »
Y'all have to try this easy delishious recipe

Oven 350 for 20-30 minutes until getting a little brown

1 roll of sausage cooked and drained
1 bag of cauliflower cooked and mashed with nothing in it
1 8 oz cream cheese very soft
Salt & pepper
Mix all together put in greased casserole dish

My hubby did not agree with me but my first few bites reminded me of when I was little I would mix my eggs, sausage and grits all together in a big bowl . For some reason the cauliflower tasted like grits . If y'all try this let me know if y'all taste the same . I put this under breakfast but I ate it at different times until it was gone . Just count up your carbs to g your total

General Discussion / Finally have prove of what I thought for quite awhile!
« on: November 06, 2012, 04:17:08 PM »
I was able to go to the new doctor last week because I was blessed with someone canceling . He did all the right test that I have been begging for and they results are I am hypo and my antibodies are all out of whack.
My TSH was 4.6
My TPAntibodies was 244  :o normal high is 35 !!!!!
Plus my vitamin D was very low
He said my total cholesterol  was 252 and HDL was 72 and the other was 153  but he thinks it will go down after the thyroid gets balanced.

So I start on my armour 60mg and 4000 IU of vitamin D in the morning . I also have to do a sleep study at the end of November . I knew that I was doing everything I was suppose to be doing with FTS ,this is not a shocker but my A1C was 5. something can't remember . Does anyone know how long the meds take to make a change ?

General Discussion / Just wanted to let yall know
« on: August 29, 2012, 07:09:48 AM »
We have used the  Carbquick off and on for awhile  not for breakfast . I would just make some of the cheddar biscuits for supper .
Well I made some for breakfast the other morning they were 1 carb per small biscuit Tyler ate 3 with a egg . His sugar was 114  when he woke up and he took one unit of his insulin  2 hours later he was 170 !!!!! 8)  ???
So I said well no more of those he said man those were good let me try in the morning one more time and if i am high again I will never eat them again so I said ok .

Well the next morning he was 108 took 1 unit again ate 3 biscuits again and 1 1/2  later his sugar was 207 !!!!!!

So in the garbage it went and the FTS Type 1 Guinea Pig said NO CARBQUICK FOR ME  :P
maybe it will not do this for others but I have found what raises Tyler's blood sugar raises mine maybe not as high as his but raises it never the less .
Just thought yall  might want to know this .
