Hi, Angela! :)

After massive weight loss it's normal to have a lot of lose skin, especially around the abdomen.
Some people have this excess skin removed.

But as with any major surgery, there are serious risks from anesthesia and infection.
It's up to you to weigh those risks against the possible surgical outcome.
If the excess skin causes other issues such as chronic back pain, it may be a good idea.

Use your judgement to asses your particular situation.
But talk to your doctor BEFORE making the final decision.

Nice recipe, thanks for sharing mate. I love vegan meals and following http://www.beegans.com/ for delicious recipes.

Hi, Adam! :)

Eating vegan can be adopted into the FTS low-carb lifestyle.
However, carb counts and portion sizes still matter even though animal protein & fat is omitted.

So be careful. Go forth, and enjoy! :)

Hi, Morgan! :)

Cauliflower is one of the most versatile veggies we enjoy on FTS.
But don't forget turnips. They make great potato substitutes, especially when sliced and baked with a sharp cheddar cheese sauce for Turnip Au Gratin.

Most packaged foods have added sugar (of some kind).
In the case of coleslaw, prepared coleslaw with dressing is one the worst in veggies.
The coleslaw itself without dressing can be a bit high if they add a lot of carrot to it.
And 1 cup of cabbage alone, has about 3g net carbs.

But if you make homemade dressing for your coleslaw and watch portion sizes,
coleslaw is a great side-dish in the FTS lifestyle.

Hello, emytruce3! :-)

Physiotherapy treatment can be good for pain management and other issues of the skeletal-muscular system.
Although you may lose some weight, it is not efficient for weight loss.

The best way to control weight (i.e. excess fat) is controlling what you eat.
After all, it is what you ate before that put the pounds on you in the first place.

I lost 100 lbs. excess fat by controlling digestible carbohydrate intake.
I did this by following the Fat To Skinny lifestyle guidelines in Doug's book, "Fat to Skinny,  Fast and Easy".
This lifestyle works because we substitute low carb foods for those that make us fat.
Doing this, you will not feel deprived, but very satisfied.

I STRONGLY urge you to get a copy and read it.
That book literally saved my life!  :)

In the meantime, read through this forum website and see what FTS has done for me and many others.

Product Reviews / Re: Oh Yeah ONE Bars
« on: September 21, 2017, 02:55:19 PM »
You're welcome, rene! :)

Their website did not have the Lemon Cake flavor listed.
3g net carbs per bar is good.

I try to find bars at 2 or less. That way my snacks don't use up too much of the daily allowance.
Makes for more carb flexibility for meals.

Hi, rene!  :)

They have much more than 1g carb each.
These bars vary from 9 to 14 net carb grams each (based on the nutrition labels).
The FTS lifestyle has a 20 net carb per day limit.

The "Original Bars" have 10 net carbs.
27g total carbs - 4g fiber - 13g sugar alcohols  =  10 net carbs

https://ohyeahnutrition.com/products/original-bars-85g

That leaves only 10g left in the daily allowance for veggies and other low-carb foods.

But if that is where you would like to spend about half (or more) of your daily carbs, then enjoy.
On a planned occasional basis, having a bar now and then is OK.
Eating them will restrict what else you can enjoy.

General Discussion / Re: Cinnamon-honey formula...
« on: September 14, 2017, 05:46:57 PM »
Hi, Shelley. And welcome!  :)

Morgan is correct about honey.

If sweetness is the goal, there is sugar free honey available.
I normally buy it in bulk as it's cheaper than one bottle at a time:
https://www.amazon.com/HoneyTrees-Imitation-Honey-12-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B000YSXDDY/ref=dp_return_2/182-6601768-2870915?ie=UTF8&n=16310101&s=grocery

1 TBSP of raw honey has 17 grams of digestible carbs.
It actually has more digestible carbs than white, refined. table sugar.
It's equal to 4 teaspoons (1 & 1/3 TBSP) of white sugar!!!  :o :o :o

Another sweetener alternative is us "Fat To Skinny Zero Sweetener".
It' is pure sucralose in purified water.
It has distinctive table sugar sweetness without the sucrose (sugar).
You can order it here (see banner on right side of page).

I've many great things about cinnamon as an antioxidant.
Although my blood numbers are good (thanks to the Fat To Skinny low-carb lifestyle),
antioxidants help prevent various infections and other problems.
So I may give this a try (after I buy a Costco-size bottle of it).

Also praying that Doug and Umpa were clear of the hurricane.
And if they suffered property damage, that it be minimal or none.

Hello, morgan!  :)

I mainly log in to see if anyone has a question or concern, or just needs some support.

FTS literally saved my life. And that's what my doctor told me back in early 2011.
And if I can help save someone else's, I want to help them make it happen.

Like you, I do miss the conversations we used to have here.
Perhaps one day, Doug and Umpa will do something to revive it.

I also miss Doug and Umpa checking in here. But they are keeping the forum active.
I believe it's because they know that FTS is a lifesaver and this forum's website is worth keeping alive.

There are a lot of fantastic recipes here.
And there are also a lot more out there on the web.
I use both as a resource.

Take care, and keep checking in. You never know what you may see.  :)

Me too.   Lived the lifestyle,  dropped the lifestyle.   Wallowed in depression.  Trying to drag myself up by the boot straps as they say.  Why do we do these things to ourselves?????   As you say "I know what to do"  ;D

First step will be clearing out the pantry and fridge.

Hi, morgan! :)

When shopping, look at high carb foods as the poison they are to us and don't buy them.
I've been doing that from the beginning. This has helped me stay on track.

Lifestyle Note... I will give in once and a while and have a hamburger (with bun) and potato fries or something else carby just to give in to a special craving. But I will NOT stock my home with high carb poisons. By doing this, it makes it easy to get back and stay on track so that my weight does not creep back (which it would). In other words, making access to high carb stuff more difficult makes it MUCH easier to find a substitute and forget about the urge and stay the course.

Take Care!  :)
