What was on your holiday plate?
« on: November 25, 2012, 02:47:36 PM »
So very quiet here  ;D  I hope all the FTS family enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday.

We very much enjoyed ours.  Lots of yummy good eats....all FTS approved of course  ;) ;)  I love how I can now sit down to eat a meal like this and not feel so miserable after.

Anyone want to share a list of what they had on their plate along with carb counts for this holiday??  It will go a long way in helping others when they are faced with the holidays in the future.

Fried turkey = 0 net carbs
Ham  = 0 net carbs
Cauli-mash   = 1.5 net carbs
1 Tbs Low carb gravy  =  1 net carbs
Green beans  = 3 net carbs
Sugar Free cranberry jelly  = 1 net carbs
Deviled eggs  = 1 net carbs
Upside Down pumpkin pie   = 2.5 net carbs
Pumpkin roll  = 1.5 net carbs
Sugar Free cheese cake with a few berries and 0 carb whipped topping = 6 net carbs

Grand total = 17.5 net carbs    I know guys   I probably over did it a bit.  But believe me I wasn't hungry later that day so that was it for the day  ;)  What a yummy day  ;D

What was on your plate??

We just got back from the beach with my sisters and all the families!! I had a large portion of turkey (white meat) and a spoonful of green beans (2 carbs)! Then I had a piece of Russell Stover sf candy (1 carb)!! I, of course was hungry later and made a little bit of turkey salad with mayo and a little handful of freshly grated romano cheese (0 carbs)!! Yummy!  ::)

Last year I made lots of low carb things like caulimash, mock sweet potatoes, and sf crustless pumpkin pie, but decided this year that I really didn't NEED all that other stuff and just stuck with the basics! I was happy and not uncomfortable and stuffed feeling! lol Much better choices for me!!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!   :D

I made several dishes from the forum, and they were great.

I made Joagain's cornbread stuffing, TooSweet's cranberry sauce, and a wonderful "Sweet Potato" casserole made from pumpkin and cauliflower.  I will admit to tasting some of the mashed potatoes and stuffing that I made for the rest of the family.  And the turkey was to die for.

Overall, a great meal.  Hope everyone else enjoyed as well.  Next.. Christmas dinner.

I had to work on Thanksgiving 7a-7pm  but it was a blessing in disguise because I did not have to be tempted by my families none fts cooking especially that pineapple stuffing !! lol! We did however all bring in food to work and I nominated myself for pepperoni and cheese trey! It was simple and safe so that i knew i would be able to eat something safe :) I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday !

myself and a few nurses collect canned goods and 4 turkeys and one ham and delivered them to the organ donation house that serves as a hotel for families in our area who have received organs or who are waiting for one. it was so rewarding and such a gratifying things to do for these wonderful families. we had an entrie car full of boxes to deliver to them ! this is myself on the left and my friend another nurse delivering the items

Thanksgiving in the Alabama woods fireside :) I made Cheesy Bass n Squash Alfredo

Cheesy Bass n Squash Alfredo

Ingredients

2 yellow summer squash shredded
1 cup Rich and Creamy Alfredo Sauce from the FTS book
1 cup Jarlsburg cheese shredded
4 white fish filets
2 teaspoons butter
salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

1- Mix the shredded yellow squash, Alfredo Sauce and cheese together in a bowl and separate into two servings
2- Place the servings into 2 individual baking dishes
3- Place the filets on top and gently press them into the mixture...flip the filets over
4- Salt and pepper the filets and top with butter
5- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and the mixture is bubbly

That is what Thanksgiving is truly about (not the beginning of the shopping frenzy).  Great job Stephanie.  Bless you.
