Scott in Florida - 22 weeks
« on: February 02, 2011, 09:19:13 AM »
This week is kind of boring, and kind of exciting.

The boring part was that I just lost 1 pound. Whatever, still moving in the right direction and looking forward to the big 50 sometime soon.

The exciting part is that I am running again.  I ran a lot in high school and college (5-8 miles per day, occasionally 10) and I really loved it.  Had to stop because of knee pain, and that's when the weight gain started.  Fast forward 20 years.  I recently read the best selling book Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World has Never Seen.  It sparked in me the idea that by changing the way I run, I might not have any knee pain.  So far it is working, but I am easing into it very slowly.  If you have any interest in running for enjoyment, I highly recommend that book - it will turn your thinking upside down about how to do it.

Congrats on your weight loss Scott and how wonderful that you are now able to do something that you loved to do and haven't been able to for a long time.  Enjoy!!

Umpa -

I am not trying to be coy or secretive, but I think I would be doing you a disfavor if I told you without having you read the book.  And believe me, I love talking about this subject.  When I told friends and family members, the almost universal individual reaction was, "Uh, that's great but I sure wouldn't be able to do that.  It doesn't make sense!"  Actually that was my first reaction too - "That's what I have to do in order to be able to run again?"  But I am now finding that there are LOTS of people doing this, and people are running with no more back pain, knee pain, etc.  I have no knee pain when I run, at least none so far.  And from a scientific standpoint, it does make sense.

How's that for a curiosity builder  :)  (You'd think I was selling books or something!)  I actually got the audio book and listened to it on my commute to work each day.

Congrats on another pound, Scott!  :) :) :)
Every ONE counts toward the goal.

Isn't just amazing how much stress our fat puts on our joints (especially knees and backs)?
My back and knees feel much better than they did when I started F2S.

Losing weight makes a world of difference in how we feel!  :) :) :)
What you do today is what matters!

The quick answer is yes - but there are a few steps involved.  What you are needing to do is rip a CD to mp3 format.  If you are using a PC with Windows Media Player, here is a video that shows how to do that:
How To Rip A CD To MP3 Format Using Windows Media Player

There is other software that will do this also, but this will work if you already have Windows Media Player.  If you use a Mac, I can't help - not a Mac guy.

Let me know if you get it okay -

umpa i know you guys have some sort of video making software:) if you record the cd with that it probably gives you an option of what format you want to download the content in....choose mp3 and after you get it downloaded, right click the file and select "open with itunes" and it should automatically put the content into your itunes library:)

actually its even simpler than that... i just did it,open up itunes, put the cd in your disc drive, and itunes gives you the option "import cd" select that and it will convert the cd to an mp3 file and put it into your itunes library:)
