Doug /Umpa /Somebody Help Me !!!!
« on: March 05, 2011, 07:05:44 AM »
Ok well we all know I am the kinda of girl that will NOT give up ,(well if you have read my SEPT 20th post)  I have tried and have lost with very little exercise ,because Doug did say you can lose without exercise . I do not like to exercise ,plus I have a knee that needs something done to it but dont have the money ,anyway .

My queston /problem is not slow weight loss it is NO weight loss NO inchs . January was a slow month like 3 lbs for the whole month but I will take anything . But since Febuary 1st I have lost & gained the same 2 lbs . I have lost no inchs from anywhere . I feel great would never go back but I am not going over 20 carbs ,in the last 2 months I have went over everything to make sure that there are no hidden carbs .

I am no where near my goal I have a lot to more to lose so if I was hovering over my goal weight I would say this is where my body wants to be .Maybe this big ,old non moving body only needs a few calories to survive on . So  my question is just a simple one calories in ,calories out ?

LIke I said I will never go back ,but I do need to get this weight off for my knees sake . I am just looking for 2-4 lbs a month .Please help me I am so very frustrated .If I had lost 50 or 75 I could see the slow down but 26 come on .  ;D Love yall

Jo, you've been around long enough to know the answers. It's all about the food, the mix and the quantity. Assuming no carbs are sneaking in and you stay at your lowest possible intake making certain to always stay under 20 net carbs per day the only thing left is portion control.

You lost weight in January (3 pounds),  so far none in Feb but didn't gain either...that tells me your body is burning all the fuel you take in and it's enough to sustain your current activity level and metabolism. No more no less.

I want you to cut your serving sizes in half and follow the 15 minute rule. Be honest with yourself and make your normal size plate that you've been eating then take a second plate and remove 1/2 of the food from the first plate and set it aside on the new plate. Eat slowly, include a big glass of water then wait 15 minutes after you're done eating and see how you feel. When I use this technique, 9 times out of 10 I'll find myself totally satisfied and the hunger will be completely gone. It never ceases to amaze me how little food I really need to stay healthy and strong.  My personal problem comes in when I want more food because it tastes so darn good....not because I'm still hungry or need the food for health. Maybe you're experiencing the same thing, eating more for the fun of it, not for the need of it...understand?    Make sure the foods your eating include dense protein and leafy greens, lay off all the sweets and treats until we get you moving again.

I know it's hard when you sit with the family at dinner and finish your food so quickly when the rest of the family is still eating. I know it can make you feel cheated.... Your game is over and they still get to play :) but that's the way it is.

Concentrate on your intake Jo...that's your problem  ;)

Wow Doug! That's a great idea! :)

As I have been losing weight, I've noticed that I NEED much less food than I used to.
I'm eating about 1/3 to 1/4 the portion sizes that I did when I first started FTS.

The next time I hit a plateau, I will try splitting my meals in half on two plates, wait 15, and see if I NEED a little more.
And make adjustments as needed (more or less food).

Water is not a problem with me.
When I'm done with morning coffee, I drink water up to bedtime (64+ ounces per day).
What you do today is what matters!

Thanks Doug I just got back from walmart and bought some small plates for me I think Mom1 told me this awhile back . It has to be like you said portion , because I have went over with a fine tooth comb  on the carbs and I pretty much eat the same kind of veggies & I also cut out the sugar alcohols . I did make Umpas PB cookies  but tyler ate most of those .  I started back today to see when my feeding times are . I drank my  coffee this morning and did not get hungry till 11:30 .

I will fix my plate on my next meal and put half on my new smaller plate .  I do think that it is a mind think that I need a lot of food because I am still a big women . But like you said it amaze's you how little food you need to survive and it probably is the same for me ,maybe even less for me . I am sure I have messed my metabolism up with all the yoyo dieting .

Oh and I am over wanting to play with others I can watch them eat bread and fries and I dont even want it . That alone is amazing !!  Thanks Doug for all you do !!!
