Marinated Jicama Appetizers

This came from the Betty Crocker site:

1 jicama (about 2 pounds), peeled and cut into 3/8-inch slices
1/4 cup lemon or lime juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder


1.Cut jicama slices into desired shapes, using cookie cutters.
2.Arrange slices on serving plate. Drizzle with lemon juice. Sprinkle with salt and chili powder. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours to blend flavors.
Makes About 3 1/2 dozen appetizers

I love them raw like apple slices or shredded in coleslaw Rena :)

Thanks, Umpa. I didn't realize you could eat them raw. I was thinking they might be like potatoes. I took a nibble of one last night (before we put it in our broccoli-chicken stir-fry) and was surprised how much it tasted like apples.

I wonder how this would work using turnips?
Can't get jicama around here. :'(

I've been finding jicama at Walmart, of all places. I was surprised they had it. I have never tried a raw turnip though. We usually deep-fry or bake ours with Cajun seasonings.
