When Pigs Fly bread
« on: June 17, 2011, 11:44:58 AM »
Hi Everyone, I am a newbie and I am very happy!  I look forward to losing 50 lbs cause my diabetes is out of control.....I am on insulin and I have to stop with taking in all these carbs.    What is you take on that "When Pigs Fly bread... I picked up a loaf and it says 1 carb in one slice of the "Low Carb Whole Wheat"   or would someone suggest an alternative for me... Thanks so much and have a great day!   ::)  Refund

Another load of Crap! They list the net carbs per 1 oz at 6 grams. There are 2 ounces in an average slice of bread. That would make the net carb count 12 per slice. Here's the ingredient list and the label;

Welcome to the family, Refund!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Last March, my doc took me off Metformin for my high blood sugar and declared that I'm no longer type II diabetic!
If you are a type II, this lifestyle will help you do the same!

If you look at that nutrition label, you'll notice the top 2 ingredients are two forms of "Whole Wheat Flour" which is known to have a very high net carb content.

When reading food labels, first check the carb counts.
If they appear low, check the ingredient list.
If any of the top 3 ingredients are high carb, don't buy the product!

And like Doug demonstrated, also check the serving size.
Packagers will sometimes report very small serving serving sizes so that the product appears to be  "low carb".

So like the old saying.... "Buyer Beware!".
What you do today is what matters!

That listing reminds me of the sugar free Klausen pickles I bought. It said one carb so I was all excited. Got it home, reread the label and it was 1 carb per quarter of spear. Who eats a quarter of a spear of a pickle? So in all, there were four per pickle. Needless to say I didn't eat those.
