My mom...
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:44:02 PM »
I think I wrote a few months back about my mom haveing alzheimers? Well, I was incorrect, kinda. She has Lowrys Body Disease. I had no clue what it is, so looked it up on the internet. Basicly, it's dementia, alzheimers, and parkins disease all in one. It's a fast moveing disease, with no cure. I called my moms friend to talk to him the other day about it, because I don't get any information from my grandmother, uncle or his wife.
Well, to make a Very Long story short, I actually talked to my mom yesterday, he gave her the phone, and I asked her if she knew who this was? She said, no, no I sure don't. After I hung up the phone, I must've cried for 2hrs. after. When I was talking to her, sounded like she was in and out of conversation & I couldn't hardly understand her.

So sorry Stepanie ,my mom lived like that for 20 years it is terrible . It was like attending  a funeral for 20 years every day/week/month  was worse then the one before  :'(

At first you pray that she gets better then find yourself praying for the Lord to take her home . There are things that are worse then death .

Lord I dont want to go early but I sure dont want to be here like that .

Like I said before I know how you feel & I am so very sorry ,hugs sent your way  :(

Oh Stephanie I am so sorry to hear about your mom.. How painful... :'(  She would seem pretty young if your grandma is still living... My thoughts are with you....

Jo, The Notebook is one of my favorite movies and actually named my son Noah after the main character.. I have to agree with you, I dont want to go early but I dont want to be like that either...

Both of you are amazing women... :'(

Oh Stephanie, I am so sorry.  I hope that you can read through the words everyone is typing that all our hearts are aching with you over what you, your mom & family are facing.  I wish I could give you a big hug right now.

Stephanie,

I am so sorry. I'm in the same boat with mine, except my mom can no longer speak after having a series of strokes. She's been in a nursing home for over 7 years and has been on a feeding tube the entire time. I hate her being like this, especially since we had a huge falling out and didn't speak for many, many years. We were just starting to when she had her strokes, but now it's too late. I also live 1400 miles away now, which makes it harder.

It's hard. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your mom. Big hugs to you!

So sorry to hear about what you are going thru.  I can't imagine, only fear that my parents are headed in the same direction.  Especially my dad.  His memory and facilities have really gotten worse the last 2 years.  He can't drive 30 miles without getting lost.  I fear the worst everytime they go somewhere.  My heart goes out to you.  I have never heard of this disease, but sounds a lot like what my dad has but not sure about parkinsons part.

Hugs and prayers your way.  PS, TooSweet is traveling but I am sure she would send you her prayers and hugs too. :'(
Look out Hawaii, I'm on my way!!

I cant help but wonder if all the preservatives or processed foods we eat contribute to it...

There is no telling Alex , The ADD, OCD,Autism,Aspergers , Hell it maybe excess carbs/sugar . Hell back in the day we eggs bacon  for breakfast . There was no Mcdonalds and all this  fast food crap , When it did come around it was a monthly treat  not everyday like  people eat now .

I agree with you, Jo! :)

I can remember when folks would have "fast food" maybe once a week, at most, as a treat.
Also, most "convenience foods" that are loaded with preservatives and other chemicals, were something had only occasionally.

Right now, little is known about the long term effects of these additives.
But I'll bet that if one eats preservatives frequently along with a high carb diet (known to feed cancer), I believe some kind of trouble awaits in the future.
What you do today is what matters!

Very sad news Stef  :'( :'(
