Pizza Topping Casserole

This is one of my favorite recipes.  Pizza without the hassle of making a crust.  The recipe calls for 8 to 16 oz. of mozzarella.  I have made it with 8 and also made it with 16, it's good either way.

Pizza Topping Casserole

1 lb. bulk sausage
onion as desired, chopped (optional)
green pepper as desired, chopped
8 oz. can mushrooms, drained (or use fresh)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
3 1/2 oz. pepperoni, chopped
olives as desired, sliced
pizza sauce
8 to 16 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Brown the sausage, onion and green pepper.  Drain if desired.  Stir in the remaining ingredients except the pizza sauce and cheese.  Stir in pizza sauce until it is as moist as you want it.  Spread in a greased 8 inch square pan.  Top with the cheese and bake until cheese is melted and it is browned the way you like it.  Should take between 10 and 20 minutes.

This is really good! ;D ;D ;D

It's just a bit too hot right now to run the oven.
But come Fall, this will be one of the first recipes to pass thru it! ;)
