P.C.O.S.
« on: October 27, 2011, 01:42:34 PM »
Hi it's me again, with more news on the family.

My daughter Becca (21) has pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome)  She has been suffering for years with this problem that strike women.  Among man of the symptoms, is that the women or young girls start to put on weight, and start looking pregnant.  Not a good thing for a young single girl in her late teens and early twenties.

So.... Becca went on a website, found out all sorts of information about her problem and then made an appointment with a Dietitian.  I too went onto a few websites, (she won't let me go with her to her meeting)  Well guess what all the websites say????

In order to fight the pcos and stop the weight gain and help with the Insulin Resistance... The plan advocates a - High Protein - Low Carb - and lots Green Veggies and Fruit!  SURPRISE!!!

I'm not saying anything to Becca, because she's been poo pooing Joey and I when we eat Sugar Free foods.  She wanted to try the plan a few weeks ago, but didn't think it would help her because her condition was causing her to be heavy, not the food!  Hmmmm is all I can say.

I am so excited to know that now Becca too will be eating healthy and it will be helping her condition!  I just had to tell you guys this, because it just shows that so many of the health problems that we have today are caused by the things we eat!

Again I can not thank all of you here at FTS for the help and support you have given us.  Doug you are an Angel on earth!

Mary

Hi Again, Mary! :)

Since research has shown that cancer feeds on high blood glucose (usually from eating high carb),
I'm not at all surprised at the dietary recommendation.

And I firmly believe you're correct... High carbs (sugar) causes (or aggravates) problems from tooth decay to cancer.
The stuff is just plain POISON! :P

I pray that your daughter's condition improves.

Tony

My heart goes out to her. Sometimes we have to let our kids figure things out for ourselves even if we have the answer.I was mis -diagnosed with PCOS years ago. They wanted to put me on birth control and Valium.Come to find out they were wrong i had started menopause. The weight gain and severe mood swings came from the menopause. My husband went crazy on the doctor because I was diagnosed by a midwife not a doctor. The doctor knew I ate sugar free ,exercised, and led healthy lifestyle, midwife did not.I have never taken birth control in my life and heart disease runs in the family through the female side.So no birth control. The Valium was for the mood swings,I said how about a little self control.i just happen to store extra weight in my belly. All these symptoms are also the symptoms of menopause. ;)

Thank you to everyone.  Becca came home to say pretty much what I had expected her to say,  she is more open to our way of eating but... insisted that the lady she saw said she just needs to lower her carb intake because she's not a diabetic.  I just smiled and put dinner on the table.  I agree, we have to let them do what they have to do.  I just hope she turns the corner soon!

Its so hard when you want to say something... but you just know that it's going to come out wrong, or the person will take it wrong.  So I will take silence over a battle and pray that all will be well.

Umpa, they too had Becca on Birth Control, it made her very sick.  So off of that she is.  I think her obgyn is good, he's helped her out so far. They had her on a medication that she took every three months, and it made her have suicidal thoughts.  She never even told me until she was off of the meds, and finally she decided she should tell someone.  I'm so thankful she was smart enough to stop taking them!

Again thank you for your prayers and well wishes.  I hold a special place in my heart for my FTS family.

Love, Mary
