My Fitness Pal website
« on: January 10, 2012, 09:54:38 AM »
I decided to check out the My Fitness Pal website and went through the process of filling out the forms, current weight, goal weights etc... The website reported back to me that I should take in the following to maintain my current weight

Net Calories Consumed   2,240 Calories / Day
Carbs / Day             308 g
Fat / Day                    75 g
Protein / Day           84 g

These people are NUTS! If I ate 308 grams of carbs per day I'd gain a hundred pounds in six months and become a type 2 diabetic again :'(

Hey, maybe I should write a book called SKINNY TO FAT!

I use this website but only to track daily calories, carbs and sugar.  I changed the values to reflect 20 grams of carbs and a much lower calorie value for the day.  I like it because it has most, but not all, foods that I eat.  You are correct that if you use their recommended guidelines we would never lose the weight. :D

I use Fat Secret to track my intake, and it's probably pretty similar on the recommendations. Sometimes it's hard for me to grasp that there are people out there who don't have a weight or eating problem, but I guess they must exist -- somewhere.

I love my husband and daughters dearly but they are all skinny.  Imagine not even having someone to hide behind in family pictures.

Tee hee! I knew what kind of bow Umpa was talking about, but had to razz her a little! She's mentioned archery in previous posts. At first I thought she wrote 'buy a bowl' and then I saw that the L was an exclamation point. I need new glasses! :D

Clearly, those recommendations are based on the old "fat makes fat" theory.

Eating 308 net carb grams per day won't bother you IF you don't have insulin resistance problems.
However, many people who consistently eat not nearly that many, will develop insulin issues.

These websites should have disclaimers on their recommendations for people with diabetic tendencies.
And that ingestion of large amounts of usable carbs over time can cause type II diabetes.
What you do today is what matters!
