Angel Hair Cabbage
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:25:43 PM »
My mother in law sent me this message on Facebook today:   Next time you are at the grocery store look for angel hair cabbage in the bag. It works really good with spaghetti sauce and meat. I don't cook it at all. Leave it raw and pour the stuff over it. Really good and what only 1.5 carbs.

I'll have to try this Donna!  Just today I bought a spaghetti squash to cook.  I had it as a side at Ruby Tuesdays recently, and wanting some more!  :)

That is a really good idea owensmath!  Thanks for the tip.  I wouldn't have thought of leaving it raw......I'll have to try it that way  ;)
I do like to use that in my cup of soup that I make  in the micro though.  It puts me in mind of chicken noodle.  http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=3686.0 ( Thanks again Rena!!)

Here's a thought: take the ingredients for lasagna (without the noodles of course) and use it as a filling for cabbage rolls. Mmmmmmm

I looked for this at Kroger but no luck.  Hoping that Wal Mart will have it.  Sounds great! :)

Amber if you can't find it just slice very thin off of a head of cabbage.  ;)  I find that if I cut the head in half and then in half again makes it a lot easier.   That way you have a flat edge to work with and can slice it thin.  You are making shreds like you would lettuce for tacos.... :)  If you are lucky enough to have a meat slicer that makes it quick and easy  ;)

I found it last night at Wal Mart.  I might give it a try tonight.  I bought some chicken/turkey meatballs and was thinking I could add sauce  :)  I will let you know how it turns out, possibly post a picture  ;D

TooSweet - thanks for the tip, I will do that next time!  I have meat slicer, great tip!

Very tasty!  I just sauteed the cabbage in a little olive oil, salt, pepper, sliced zucchini and touch of chicken broth.
