Umpa thanks they died it will be 5 years ago this year . My mom was in a nursing homw with alzheimers for 16 years she died 4 months to the day after  my dad died . He went in to the hospital for heart surgery and after the surgery his kidneys quit working and he got sepsis I think that is how you spell it . He died 21 days later .

I dont think you ever stop missing your parents no matter how old they were or how old you are .

My sympathies, Marty and Jo. :(

I lost my brother in 1973 (from thyroid cancer).
My dad in 1991 (heart attack).
My mom in 2000 (congestive heart failure).
And finally, my sister last February 2011 (heart attack).

That makes me the last of those two generations.
Thankfully I have two sons, a daughter, and three grandchildren to carry on.

Like Jo says, I will never stop missing them.
I know that we will all be reunited one day with the Lord... And that is so very comforting! :)
What you do today is what matters!

Jo -- I'm sorry. I know how hard it is having a parent in a nursing home. Mine has been in one for over 6 years now after having a series of strokes. She's no longer able to speak, walk, eat, or do anything. She's been on a feeding tube the entire time. It infuriates my brother when he comes to her room, only to find one of the nurses had left The Food Network on her TV. So insensitive. I haven't seen her since 2008 and that was only for about an hour. Before that, I hadn't seen her since we moved from CA in 2006. I left the last time thinking it would probably be my last. It's just sad. There's no other word to describe it. In away, I wish she'd just go and be at peace. My father died in 1966 and I'm sure she would be much happier being with him finally again, rather than living in so much pain and have literally no quality of life. Sometimes these things just drag on forever, as you're well aware of. The really ironic part is that my mom was a nurse and spent her entire career devoted to geriatric patients. She's still fully "aware" and if anyone knows how those places work (hospitals), it's my mom. Just a sad, sad situation. :(

Well, if you insist ..........

I put the link because you need to see the pictures. Most of the others I've seen are basically cake mix cookies with a cream cheese type frosting. These look a little different.

WHY DO I HAVE A MEMORY OF OREOS BEING CRISP?? ??? ...

Hi Umpa! :)

I ate those things for many years and remember them well!
Double-stuffed Oreos were one of my weaknesses before FTS.

Oreos are a little crunchy due to their dryness.
But I would not call them crisp like a potato chip.
However, if they were deep fried, they might get crisp.
What you do today is what matters!

Never was my thing,My mom ate 1/4 pack every night  with a glass of milk! When i am working on recipes consistency is important.I just have a memory of the chocolate part of the cookies cookies being thin.Off to google.I don't see why we couldn't make them :)
