Success and....Less-so
« on: February 19, 2012, 03:36:09 PM »
Great news. We're at the end of week one (technically, our "official" weigh in is tomorrow) - and we've done really well keeping net carbs at 20g or lower.

Amber is down 3 pounds already.

I on the other hand - am UP 2.

I'm pretty sure it's a portion size thing. And I'm going to be more diligent about it. I'm exercising as well - and looking forward to my trip to Walt Disney World next weekend for my 2nd half marathon of the year.

But here's my question: how do you guys figure out your portion sizes so you're not really hungry, but are still losing? I'm sure some of my hunger pangs are carb detox - but I'm really struggling and I don't want to give up. I'm ready for a change.

Suggestions?

Jonathan and Amber

Hi Jonathan & Amber! :)

Congrats to Amber on her 3 pound loss! ;D ;D ;D ;D

And for you Jonathan, here are Doug's Five Rules to GUARANTEE FTS success;
http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=1072.msg8767#msg8767

Naturally, these rules apply to anyone living the FTS lifestyle.
But if you follow them, you'll do very well! ;)

Portion sizes are VERY important to progress.
When you discover exactly how much food your body needs and when it needs it, the rest is almost as easy as falling off a log!

Be sure you're drinking LOTS and LOTS of plain water.
Thirst can be confused for hunger causing one to eat more.
Plus, water will help facilitate the weight loss process and make you healthier to boot.
What you do today is what matters!

That link Tony gave you above is SO helpful. I use the portion sizes all the time. It really is crucial to keep your portions sizes down to help lose weight.

On another note, you're coming to my neck of the woods! It was 84 today in Orlando. Are you coming for the Disney Marathon?

I'm glad you reminded me of the question I have to ask. I've read that you're not supposed to let yourself get hungry and not to eat until you ARE hungry. So is it don't let yourself get TOO hungry?

Your cravings are most certainly detox symptoms. The three day exercise is really important to go through. This will get you in touch with your body and it's needs. Follow the rules you were linked to and be sure to eat small....then wait. Be honest with yourself about you feel.

Here's the rules- http://bodychecklist.com/article/healthy-eating/41394/9276/5-principles-fat-skinny-success   ;)
