I just bought some Lake Erie walleye. I am going to try this. It sounds yummy and easy. Anyone ever try cooking fish on the grill in foil packets? I think I am going to try your recipe mommab on the grill this week. Will let you know how it turns out if I remember.
Hi Beth!
Cooking fish on the grill is easy.
I like to use the "heavy duty" thick aluminum foil or aluminum baking pans.
Using either one, I like to cook with them open (not folded closed) and use a wood chip box on my gas grill to give more smokey grilled flavor to the fish.
Grills vary a lot on how hot they get.
If you use a gas grill, after preheating, drop the settings down to medium (@ 350 degrees) before cooking.
With charcoal, don't overdo the amount of charcoal so it doesn't get too hot.
On average, a one inch thick fish fillet will be fully cooked in about 8 to 12 minutes.
Check for done-ness with a fork like you would on the stove or oven.
Just be sure to keep an eye on them until you get the hang of it for your grill.
Walleye are a delicious white fish... I haven't eaten any in quite a few years. I envy you!... ENJOY!
