Went out last night with family. We ate at one of my favorite restaurants - Longhorn Steakhouse. Nothing fancy about it - just good food reasonably priced. We normally go about once every couple of months followed by either dessert somewhere or the movies. The difference between what I ate the last time I was there and last night is amazing. A few months ago it was my standard outing...go to the bar while waiting to be seated. 22 ounce beer. Get to table and order a coke and my meal which is normally a salad with french dressing, 20 ounce steak, and large baked potato fully loaded. While waiting I normally have at least 3 or 4 pieces of bread with heavy amount of butter. With my meal I have at least 2 or 3 large cokes. After the meal, if we go to the movies I'll have another medium cherry coke, a small popcorn (with a lot of butter....I just ate so not real hungry) and then some sort of candy. If we don't go to the movies, then I will let my food digest a bit and then go to DQ and order a large peanut butter cup blizzard with extra stuff. Last night I had unsweetened ice tea, a 6 ounce filet paired with about 6 jumbo shrimp and veggies. My wife was pleading with me to order more b/c I would be starving after, but I was perfectly content. Everyone wanted to go to this yogurt place afterward. I was able to sit there without any desire to join in. It was actually a little gross to watch some of the people in there filling up their huge cups of low fat yogurt with M&Ms, chocolate syrup or the other 50 toppings available. Anyway, I was proud of my control.
