Regular Blood Donation - and sugary refreshment
« on: July 28, 2012, 04:49:33 PM »
Hi All,
I do my best to give blood 6 times a year, but  at least once each year my iron level is too low.  I was turned away June 11, but yesterday it was 13.7.

Anyway, do any of you donate blood and do you eat their sugary snacks afterwards?

I didn't in April, and it seems it took longer for me to recover.  This time I had their little can of orange juice and Keebler cinnamon cookies...not all of them. It seems to have helped and the scale wasn't affected like I thought it would be.  And no cravings were activated.

I wanted to experiment with the sugary refreshments and how it affected my recovery. It seems to have helped speed my recovery.  I know how to lose excess fat now, so I wasn't panicked that little bit was going to reverse my success.

Any ideas from others for what you have as refreshment after blood donation?

All the best,
Ann

Those sound like better options than fruit juice and cookies. And probably better, is FTS cookies. I'll try out baking some of them between now and next time.

Peanut butter on celery sounds good to me, too.

Thank you, Umpa.
