Hi All! Newbie here! First day into FTS and i slipped already :(

Hi All! I hope you're all doing fine! Just finished reading the book about a week ago and i was so ready to do it! I thought this would be the perfect time to do it because it's lent (figured i'd give up sweets) so that's an extra push to really say no to the sugar around me. But then about half an hour ago, i just downed half a bag of Hershey's kisses cookies n' cream which is my ultimate favorite! :'( I did the math and i felt worse when i realized i just put 29 teaspoons of sugar into my mouth! ulk! :( Just want to say it out loud hoping it will make me feel better and to completely convince myself and set in my mind that this FTS/low-carb/low-sugar lifestyle is the right way to go. I feel like posting this would kind of put it out there and announce to the universe that i'm doing this, that i'm committing myself to this and that i can do it.

Welcome to the forum nosaltnsugarpls  :)  Congratulations on your decision.  Don't sweat the past.....just keep looking ahead  ;)   Come in often and join in the conversations, vent, or ask anything you like.  There are a lot of wonderful supportive folks here.  We are all here to help each other  ;D  I look forward to reading your posts.

Welcome to the forum, nosaltnsugarpls.  Was it the first half of the bag or the bottom half of the bag?  I'm just wondering if the temptation is there for tomorrow.

We've all been there.  If your home life allows it, get a food  bank donation box out and start going through the pantry.  Read the labels and donate the high carb foods.  Then make a shopping list and head out to round up the food you need to keep from being hungry and keep your daily net carbs below 20.  Think meat, eggs, hard cheeses, green vegetables and water, water  and more water. 

We're here because we know that FTS is a healthy way of life that has helped us get slimmer and more active and happier with ourselves.  You can do it and we'll be here to help. 

If the bottom half of that bag of kisses is still around, THROW IT AWAY!

Just sayin'.

Welcome to the FTS family, nosaltnsugarpls!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Like most of us here, you've likely spent most your life trying diets, not eating this, and not eating that.

What makes FTS different is that it's a lifestyle that adopts replacements for all those bad things we used to eat.
In so doing, we get MUCH healthier and lose weight in the bargain! ;D

Also like many others here, it sounds like your a chocolate lover.
We have an ENORMOUS number of sweet and delicious recipes here for the chocoholic.
Just browse the Dessert area to see most of them.
You can also do a search from the home page on "chocolate" to see others.

Since FTS requires a lifestyle change, it will take a while to get used to it.
Getting rid of the high carb stuff around the house will make it MUCH easier for you.
After a few weeks, it will be second nature to you.

So "clean house", and don't beat yourself up over slipping.

No worries....you can always start over!  I agree with Tony....check out the recipe section.  I LOVE sweets, and the sugar free desserts always ensure that I don't feel deprived...of anything!  I couldn't have made it without the cheesecake and pancakes!  ;D

Welcome to FTS.  As you have learned, the key to making this a lifesyle and not just a diet is that rather than eliminating foods you love, you can find low-carb/ low sugar substitutes instead.  That way you don't have to feel deprived. 

Did you know that Hershey's makes sugar-free candies.  So does Russel Stovers.  They are delicious, and will help when you have a craving.  Two things to keep in mind... you still need to watch your portions because they will stall weight loss.  Also, they contain sugar alcohols which can cause some minor digestive issues, when consumed in higher volume.
