When you are travelling you need to pay extra attention to getting enough water.  Get a reusable water bottle that you can fill after you get through security and keep track.  I'm not a fan of airplane bathrooms and am always afraid that the seat belt sign will be lit when I really want to use the facilities so I try to drink water around that schedule, but I usually fly shorter distances that NY to Las Vegas so take care to figure out how you can get it all in.

You are doing great.  I know the start was tough but hanging in there is paying off.

Since you aren't using a scale and don't want to take measurements, it's most likely that you are losing weight but the outward signs aren't going to show up for a while.  The first pounds lost aren't nearly as noticeable since they are a smaller percentage of your total weight.  When your pants start to get longer, you'll know you are shrinking.  They get longer before they get looser.  That's a great early warning sign of weight loss.

Marian!!!  I am SO PROUD of you!!!  I promise this will get easier the longer you stay on it!   Hey, for a quick snack, I love to take a low carb tortilla wrap and make a cheese quesadilla!  I just put whatever type cheese I want in it, and cook it in a little butter stove top.  I like to get mine really well done and crunchy.   :)    The tortillas I use are called "Tumaro's Gourmet Tortillas"  I find them at Kroger.  Total carb 11g, fiber 7g.....so it's net 4 carbs for the tortilla.   I recently got some of those bowl shaped forms like on TV where you can bake a tortilla to make a taco salad bowl.   ::)  I haven't tried it yet.

Hi Marion, you're doing wonderful. I love the Flackers, good crunchy snack. One of our very successful members (Katary) came up with his own homemade cracker recipe using sunflower seeds, check it out here- http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=1041.0  This will be your answer to an inexpensive replacement. Fats will make you feel full faster and longer than anything else so when I have a hunger shot I hit my fav cheeses like smoked gouda or jarlsburg. Does'nt take much to curve the feeling. I still worry about the lack of sleep you're getting. Late nights awake always lead to unnecessary snacking, you'll need to work on that. Twosweets hard boiled egg answer is also another great fast filling low carb snack. We have a hard boiled egg cooker on our counter which is fantastic, pour in a bit of water, set in seven eggs, poke holes in the tops of the eggs and push a button. We have hard boiled eggs in the fridge all the time  ;) here's a lnk to the machine we use- http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CEC-7-Egg-Cooker/dp/B0000A1ZN9/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1358950398&sr=1-4&keywords=hard+boiled+egg+cooker

Lets talk constipation :) water, water and more water as well as adding high fiber veggies and GG brancrisp breads to the party.
here's the veggie list with the highest fiber content in order of fiber amount.

Avocado, tomatoes, edamame (soy nuts), Jicama, cabbage, eggplant, fennel, green beans, okra, broccoli, cauliflower all contain fiber. You'll also get fiber in smaller amounts from all green leafy veggies. If you follow a good mix as prescribed in your FTS book you should get all the fiber you need on a daily basis. Be sure to mix and match.    You can find GG here- http://www26.netrition.com/gg_bran_crispbread_page.html

Finally you can also get things moving along by adding some fiber to your whey shakes, check out this post by mouseissue- http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=1462.0

We enjoyed your stand-up :) if you stick to FTS you'll be making "skinny jokes" about yourself in the future instead of fat jokes.  ::)

Need help with hunger at night
« Reply #18 on: January 23, 2013, 01:32:19 PM »
I barely ate yesterday due to not being hungry, but got so hungry late at night, I ate very, very late.  Had some flax crackers (8 small ones) with a slice of cheese.  Still hungry, so later had more flax crackers with peanut butter (is PB ok on low carb diet?)...then even later in the middle of the night, still hungry, had a whey shake (very low carb) with chia seeds.  Where do you draw the line?  I'm even still hungry this morning.  When should we feed the hunger and when should be just go to bed very hungry?  Thanks for the advice.

Thanks to all of you.  I only fly from Eugene, OR to Vegas, not from NY, I live in Oregon for the last 16 years, so it's only an hour and a half flight.  I'm leaving Monday, but afraid to go due to this flu epidemic.  Anyone know about it?  I really don't want to cancel my birthday trip.  Doug, you are so funny to post my old video on here!  LOL, thank you!  Thank you all for the help, but everything you suggested to me, the tortillas and the GG's are gluten.  I can't tolerate wheat at all...my heart races from it and I bloat up badly.  I will make my own flax crackers and thanks for the other links too.  I'll look at those.  Please note that I posted about hunger at night, I hope you can help with that posting.  Doug, sleep is a problem for me, some of it due to the pain meds I take and also I've been an insomniac for years.  That's hard.  So, please tell me answers to my other posting about the hunger I had last night (and what I did about it...ugh) and tell me what you all think about cancelling my trip due to fear of the flu...I mean the plane is bad enough, but in Vegas, everyone's there from all over the world, there are the casinos, the hotel, etc.  My husband and I will be out a lot as we have a rental car and he'll be taking photographs a lot in the desert.  But, still....

Marian maybe I missed your answer but have you read the FAT TO SKINNY book yet. From many of your questions it doesn't seem to me that you have. I suggest you pick up a copy or downlolad the ebook and read it on the plane 8)

Doug and Sherri, Yes, I tried SamE long ago, I don't like it...acupuncture works better for me.  Doug, I have read and really liked the book.  I just seem confused because I know I can't exactly eat that way.  Not exactly.  Some of the things are way wrong for my body...dairy, Splenda, other things...I am just getting fatter and fatter each day even trying to eat this way.

Marian, if you're keeping your net carbs to less than 20 per day it's impossible for you to gain weight. Choose the foods you CAN eat that fall within my guidelines and make your menus accordingly.
