Dreading Detox
« on: April 06, 2013, 08:55:41 PM »
Hi all -

I'm Noodle and I'm new.  I have read the book, gotten rid of the junk (some I ate as a last supper!), stocked up - and am starting FTS tomorrow!

Any insider's tips on how to handle detoxing?  Reading the comments about it I'm nervous - but I know this is the best thing for me.

Thanks!!!

HiYa Noodle! :) I am Umpa,Dougs wife if I can help you please ask. Detox is about two weeks and everybodys symptoms are different. Lots of water and eat at regular times. Peanut butter really helped me. Flu symptoms, headaches, dizziness, and anxiety are all normal but not everybody experiences all these symptoms. At the end though you will feel amazing! You will feel 10 years younger and your energy level will go through the roof!Welcome to the forum. You are going to do g ;)reat!

What helped me was to stick to as close to 0 carb items as I could and drink lots of cold plain water.  I found that I wanted to snack all the time....so be prepared and have things on hand.  Everyone is different and some don't even notice any difference.  Be aware also that when you cut the processed food all of a sudden you are cutting your sodium intake tremendously...if you feel icky and have headaches try some beef or chicken broth.  No worries though your body will adjust quickly and you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner  ;)

Come in often and post we are all here for eachother  :D  Welcome to the family

Welcome to the FTS family, Noodle!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

No two of us are alike.

Some folks have a bit of challenge detoxing.
While others, have little to no negative symptoms during detox.
You may be one of those lucky ones! ;)

One thing is pretty common, urges for carbs increase. And having those sugar free candies around can help.
Just don't overdo it with them.... They can cause extended bathroom visits! :o

How ever it goes for you, like Doug said, there's no need to fear detox!
It's the first signs of your body healing from years of carb damage.

We'll be right here to help you get through it as well as all the way to goal! ;D ;D ;D

Just jump in, failure is not an option.
Failure can be measured by the steps we don't take.

Hi all -

Just wanted to declare once and for all I'm going to do this. My birthday is Friday and this is my present to myself - getting this weight off.  I want to look and feel 10 years younger - and get my blood sugar to a normal range before I'm diagnosed as being diabetic.  I'm close!

I really appreciated your advice on how to handling the detoxing flu - cool water, broth, zero carb snacks.  Just to feel in control and energetic....it's not that far off if I stick to the plan, be prepared and don't give in.

I'll report back soon with my progress.  Apologies if this is on the wrong board.

Happy birthday, Noodle2Be!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I WAS a type II diabetic (with high BP, high triglycerides & cholesterol) before I found FTS.
I was taking 5 different meds to "control" these issues.
In fact, my doctor was warning me of dire consequences unless some changes were made very soon.

Then in July 2010, along came Doug and FTS! :) :) :) :)

And since I've fully adopted the FTS lifestyle, ALL my blood numbers are VERY good, and I feel 30 years younger!
FTS has saved my life! ;D ;D ;D

For the sake of your health, jump in and commit 100% to the FTS lifestyle.
You will be so glad you did! ;)
Plus, we'll be here with you all the way with the support you may need.
