Rant at Manufacturers
« on: March 23, 2014, 11:15:58 PM »
My little rant for the moment - I just opened the normal packet of bacon I buy which is 1.1c/100g (you can't buy - or I haven't found as yet - 0c bacon). I checked the nutritional info and LO and BEHOLD the same product I have been buying for ages now has a carb count of 3c/100g. I cannot believe it.  Well actually I can, these manufacturers are just messing with us.

This is the second time in about as many days this has happened.  I needed some chicken/beef stock.  Went to buy some and the product that had been 0.6c/250ml when I first started buying it, then went up to 2c/250ml after that, then 4c/250ml (when I actually complained to the company who, basically, said 'new receipe' translated to 'tough cookies') has now gone up to 8c/250ml.  I could just SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why for heaven's sake would they add sugar to their products?  Surely it costs more to add an extra ingredient.  Pity poor diabetics when their levels go up and they have no idea why.

Just as well I check the carb counts each and every time.  (Pity I didn't check the bacon before I bought it - I usually do.)

arggghhhhhhh :P

Happens all the time Morgan, many manufacturers "sugar cure" bacon for added flavor. I assume bacon is one of your fav breakfast meats? Try a pork chop one of these mornings with your eggs....delish! and Zero Carb

I read or saw video, not sure where that said companies add sugar to everything to increase "addiction" to their product.
