Almond Flour
« on: February 04, 2014, 02:47:11 PM »
I haven't done any low carb baking and I'm confused about whether to buy blanched or unblanched or does it even matter?  Any suggestions on which one?  Anyone have a brand they prefer?  Where to buy it?  Thanks for helping a newbie!

Hi Sunshine   :)  The "Now" brand unblanched is the lowest I have ever found.  As far as price you can shop around.  Umpa gave a great link.  I have bought off of amazon and netrition.com as well.  My local health food store carries it but it's a little higher in cost.  Another thing I do is grind my own.  My ninja does a great job of grinding it very fine.

I do however now that I'm in maintenance occasionally use the blanched for things I want to look pretty....like sugar cookies.  It gives you a higher carb count though  :-\   Hope this helps   ;)

Hi, Sunshine! :)

If you try grinding your own, grind in bursts and keep a close eye on it.
One mistake I've made... Too much grinding and the almonds will become almond butter. ::)
