High Cholesterol
« on: May 23, 2015, 08:15:14 AM »
I've been on FTS for close to a year, not totally a stickler but trying my best.  I really like FTS and like that I'm not hungry all the time like I used to be.  However, yesterday I got a biometric screening done which includes cholesterol.  Well, mine is 260 (higher high), HDL is >100 (ideal).  Triglycerides are < 45 (optimal).  My glucose is normal at 091 and my blood pressure is normal 100/062.  I'm going to consult my doctor on Tues., but I am really concerned about my high cholesterol.  I try to eat lean meats and vegetables but do eat a great deal of cheese and eggs.  I don't exercise.  My husband says this diet is bad for me and I need to stop.  What's your advice?

Hi, alison1young! :)

Many doctors have recently noticed that blood cholesterol is NOT the cause of arterial blockages.
The problem is arterial inflammation that makes the artery walls "sticky" and causes cholesterol to adhere.

Please check these discussions and links out about cholesterol & heart disease;

Here's an article about drugs used to lower cholesterol (statins);

There is a reason why your cholesterol number is high. But the FTS lifestyle is NOT it.
In fact, eating low-carb will most often reduce blood cholesterol (unless something other than eating high-carbs is causing it).

There is another issue at work effecting your cholesterol number.
Remember that if cholesterol has nothing to stick to in the arteries, it will just pass through.
