NevadaManna chocolate chips
« on: May 02, 2011, 10:32:45 PM »
These are 1 net carb per serving -2 Tbsp. Very good.

How many Tablespoons are in 1/2 cup?  I used these for the magic bars and they are great but want to be sure on net carbs!

I ordered them on line but they are now not available until the Fall (apparently they don't ship well in the heat!).  I am going to go by the Health food store today and see if they carry them.  I did search on line last night and see that Hershey's make a sugar free chocolate chip.  These worked great with the Magic Bars and I only used 1/2 cup.  I sprinkled a few in our waffles this morning, yummy!

Here's my favorite (and easy) recipe for homemade chocolate chips.
I believe Umpa was the originator of it.

2 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate (8 net carb grams) - This can be found in the baking isle of the store.
1/4 cup xylitol (0 carb)
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (0 carb)

Melt chocolate in microwave safe dish large enough to hold the cream and xylitol.
Take out of microwave and add xylitol and heavy whipping cream and mix well.
Pour out into 9x9 pan, plate, or pie pan and put in the freezer.
Freeze for 3 hours.

Once frozen, break into pieces and use for recipes.
Or munch on some to take care of that occasional chocolate "urge". ;)
What you do today is what matters!

Hi TooSweet! :)

I buy the house brand at my Fred Meyer grocery store.

Although Fred Meyer is a member of the Kroger store family (a national chain), the dairy goods come from local dairy farms here in the Pacific Northwest.

I suggest checking your various local grocers.
I've heard of others that have 0 carb heavy whipping cream as well.

Woot Woot.... I found some today.  I guess they run out of that one before the others..LOL  There were only a couple left.  One of these days I will be able to gather a list of all the items I like to have on hand that way I can ask the manager of the store if he can order them.  It would be nice to not have to go from store to store....LOL

Rena I agree pictures would be nice  ;D ;D
